rm1x has been posting some good poppy seed tea trip reports, which have twice now inspired me to try it myself. Today was my fourth attempt at making poppy seed tea, and by far it was my most successful so far.
This morning at about 10:30 am, I drove to Albertsons (a local grocery store chain) and picked up a bottle of poppy seeds, 70 grams. I looked at the seeds through the bottle and noticed bits of stuff that looked like pod parts, they definitely weren't seeds, so I thought this brand would work nicely. So that I wouldn't be buying all of these seeds from the same store, I then drove to Tom Thumb (another grocery store chain) and picked up another bottle of the same brand. I now had two bottles, totalling 140 grams. I wanted at least 400 grams, so I drove back to Albertsons and bought two more bottles, but I used the self checkout line so that I wouldn't have to deal with any suspicious clerks. Now I had four bottles, for a gtotal of 280 grams. This, mixed with the two bottles I already had at home, gave me a grand totaly of 430 grams of poppy seeds... just about a pound, and based on my past experiences, probably enough for the day.
At home, I emptied out a large plastic container of rice with a screw top lid and poured the poppy seeds into this. I then added about 600 ml of grapefruit juice, because I have heard that grapefruit juice can potentiate opiates by helping it cross the blood brain barrier. I screwed the lid on tightly, and proceeded to gently shake the container more or less constantly for about 20 minutes (rmx1 suggested using an automatic mixing bowl, but since I don't have one, I figured good ole muscle and elbow grease would do the trick well enough).
I then put a plastic coffee filter (the kind with very fine slits cut into it, shaped like a cup) on top of a glass, and poured the liquid into it. I had to be careful, because the seeds had a tendency to fall out suddenly in clumps. I also had to clean out the filter now and then when it filled with poppy seeds, and resume pouring of the liquid. Now and then when the filter filled up, I would press down on the seeds with a paper towel so as to squeeze as much liquid as possible into the glass.
Finally, I managed to get about 3/4 of the glass filled with the tea. It wasn't thick and slurry-like as rmx1 described, but it was dark and definitely strong smelling. I held my breath and knocked it all back in a couple of gulps.
The taste was actually quite tolerable, like rmx1 suggested... if you're gonna do this, use juice, not water. It makes it 100% more palatable. So, having skulled the entire glass of tea, I sat back to await the results.
I must say, this attempt at poppy seed tea was an unqualified success, much more so than my previous attempts. after about 20 minutes, I started feeling that morphine buzz. If anyone has ever taken a morphine sulphate pill, it felt EXACTLY like that. My legs and stomach felt that same feeling I get when on morphine... that numb, sort of wobbly feeling, and I got extremely relaxed. As a side effect, my toothache dissappeared, so hooray for that!
This morphine feeling continued to get stronger over the next couple of hours, until I was feeling VERY relaxed, and just didn't really want to get up or do anything. It was a nice, soothing feeling, one of utter contented apathy. I was also pretty hungry, so I ate a barbecue sandwich that I had saved from the night before, and it tasted hella fine!
It is now 6:50 pm, about seven hours since I drank the tea, and I'm still feeling the effects to a mild degree. Although my experience still doesn't really compare to the one rmx1 had (I didn't get any itchiness, or nods or crazy dream-like states), it was still an experience definitely worth repeating. If you want a strong dose of pure morphine without hunting down your dealer or stealing pills from your grandmother (j/k :D ), then this is definitely THE way to go.
