I know there are few threads here for making poppy seed tea, and I followed one of them, but just want to confirm with you guys as to whether or not I did it right.
Here's what I did:
1) I got approximately 666 grams of seeds (about 1.5lbs).
2) I dumped them all in a mixing bowl and added cold tap water gradually, stirring the seeds at the same time.
3) By the time I was done adding water, there was about 1" of water above the seeds. After making sure all the seeds were nice and wet, I let them soak for 20 minutes.
4) After the soak I used a shirt as a filter and drained the water and discarded the seeds. I poured the water (now tea) into a 1 liter bottle and it ended up filling about 3/4 of the bottle. Then I added a little lemon juice for flavor.
So that's what I have. Based on that, do you think I did it right and would I get any affect from the tea? I know I probably shouldn't drink it all, as 1.5lbs of seeds is a lot for one person.
Also, does this stuff have to be refrigerated and does it "expire"? If it expires, how long do I have until I should drink it?
Lastly, can Poppy Seed Tea be sold as a drug, and if so how much should I sell it for? I have a few friends interested in it, and I told them if I ever get the recipe right I'd sell them some. But I'm not going to sell them something that's not potent or is potentially too strong.
Thanks.
