Hey guys I'm new here and I just thought of a question to ask, so here goes.
I just made tea with some dried pods. I let the water heat untill it was boiling, let it cool a little, and put the powdered pods in. Let it sit for about thirty minutes and drank after filtering with a metal strainer. Is the material I filtered out worthless now? I ate the powder itself last night and seemed to get a much stronger effect. So I am wondering if I could eat the material I have left.

You could, depending on your tolerance.
You could take the same amount of powder that gives you the desired affects, and make a tea, and eat the rest, the water will just get things flowing along better, just the fact you have some form of beverage.

I was under the impression though that at least 50% of the alkaloids(just guessing) would be extracted in the liquid by making the tea. I would rather not eat this unless it is still at least 50% as potent as it was before I boiled it. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Well I thought that most people discarded the material after using it once, are they wasting it or am I just wrong in thinking that?

Sorry if I'm a little slow right now but by that you mean yes they are wasting it?

The reason people are willing to toss out the left over plant material and only drink the tea is because the plant material might cause unpleasant gastrointestinal problems/upset stomach. So even thou by consuming everything one might get the most alkaloids, the upset stomach is just not worth it for some. They would rather get less alkaloids and save their stomach the pain of consuming the plant material.

Yeah, not a fan of eating the grounds for a number of reasons. But, the material you strained out can be used to make another tea, and another after that - you'll notice the tea you make will keep getting lighter colored and tasting like ... water. It really depends on how much material you are using for your tea. For instance, 5g of ground up pods will barely be worth reusing a 2nd time. 50g will continue to pull out alkaloids for a 4th, maybe 5th time of reusing.

But dont... poppy pod tea is bad, m'kay? Pretty much any opiate use turns into an addiction. (Blanket statement.) But you didn't ask if it was a bad idea...

yeah, you have to grind the fuck out of those poppies if you want to eat them without stomach trouble, I have to mix it with grapefruit juice to feel like I'm getting the full effect but I think this way works better than tea but everyone has a different opinion on this.

and to agree with an above poster, poppy tea is BAD, don't do it.

Thanks for the concern guys but right now I'm doing poppies in order to stay away from heroin and other pharms. I know that it's all opiates, but I still think I'm better off doing poppies than dope, healthwise and pricewise

that's the same reason I'm using them and I agree with you. however I had a chat with my ex heroin addict ex girlfriend and she just told me a junky is a junky is a junky. she wasn't exactly encouraging, but then again she's my ex. I had to grind up a couple extra poppies after that conversation. I mean I thought of all people she'd be understanding, I've never met a woman more obsessed with opiates than her but she thinks she's somehow better than me just cuz she has a suboxone script.

^^^Your ex is right.

Regardles of where you get it and which one it is, you are still chasing opiates, and you will be addicted the same way, the same W/D, and the same cravings.

Nothing is changing but the form.

I think cravings are significantly less with poppies than heroin or oxy. Once I do heroin or whatever I usually end up doing it everyday untill I'm out of money. I don't have cravings to do poppies every day though. Still, the basic idea is the same, it is still opiates your doing, and you are still an opiate addict whether its pods, heroin, or suboxone your doing.

Faded, I don't think you understand how SERIOUS and LONG pod withdrawl can be.

And no I'm not ignorant, a junkie of 6 years I'd know.

Pods are no joke, they contain many different alkaloids which all have different effects, half lifes and potency.

Pods aren't no joke, they're very easy to replace a oxy or heroin habit... in fact in 90% of cases better to be addicted to because of easy access.

But the withdrawl is a whole other story to be told.

True story

Oh and for the record, why don't you do a double extraction with your pods.

Make a tea, reduce and use the same powdered pods as before ;).
