I've been trying to grow poppies on my window sill, so far I've had very little success. Would compact flourescent lights be the better option in this situation? How many seeds should I plant in each pot? I've tried to find info online about indoor propagation, but not much is very useful for my current efforts. Anything helps to shine light on this, thanks in advance

after learning as much as possible about their contents by volume of the roots, and which poppy you prefer.
theyll only be tiny plants and near worthless.

how many poppies does it take to screw in a light bulb?
^ A joke, but really....as far as poppy cultivation goes, I remember reading that it would take something like half an acre of full grown poppies to harvest enough "resin" / opium to make poppy cultivation worthwhile. ----> that growing poppies isn't like marijuana where one plant grown to maturity will make the endeavor worth the time and money.
BUT having said that, I've also read about people eating and/or making tea from only 3-4 dried poppy heads to achieve very pleasant effects. So what is the real deal with growing poppies?
I can easily see one being able to plant 100-200 poppy plants at a time in a garden, backyard, or greenhouse, and if one has a low enough tolerance, say; 4 pods/day, then I can see the value in that. Furthermore, given the proper climate, the plants could be planted in batches all year long so that when a batch of say 30 poppies are harvested, 30 more are planted, another 30 will be ready for harvest in a week or two, another 30 in 4 weeks etc....So that one would be engaged in a constant process of planting, tending, and harvesting. Now whether or not enough poppies can be planted to sustain this idea without attracting unwanted attention and also staying on pace with the farmer's inevitably growing tolerance I have no clue...?
There is also the distinction btwn harvesting the entire plant, or scoring the pods to collect the sap. Perhaps the sap collection is what requires large numbers of plants, I just don't know, but I am curious if anybody else wants to comment?
