Opioids Poppy Pods - Hen and Chicks

One supplier I use said he will have these at the beginning of the new year. I have never used them before and was wondering how they differ to normal dried poppy pods when making tea. Do you use the clusters (the chicks) as well as the hen? What ARE the clusters? Are they poppy haemorrhoids? Do they contain seeds? I have only ever seen them in pics and am looking forward to seeing them for real.

Is there any different in effect than with say the Giganteum poppy pod heads?

These are supposedly the most coveted of all poppy strains due to their higher (in most cases) opium content. More surface area = more alkaloids. I believe the "chicks" are consumable, or at least they won't harm you if consumed.

Hens & chicks are very potent. The "chicks" are tiny pods that form around the main pod. The seeds are only in the main pod IIRC. Be very careful with them. When I first got these I made tea like I had done with other batches & it was a big mistake. So start small to gague the strength of the batch. I only found those once, so you're lucky if you do get them.

i would LOVE to try some of those. ive had some good gigantums and just regular poppy papaver soniferum pods, but never anything close to that. i think one of the places i ordered from used peticides bc it kinda made me feel sick for a day or two even tho i didnt get that high.

some poppy varieties have higher levels of non-narcotic alkaloids like papaverine, noscapine etc. - these will make you nauseous

Cheers for the warning. I will make sure I am sensible with them. I have never had them so I will go easy until I know if they are potent.

Are all 'Hen and Chicks' poppy pods Papavar Somniferum? I am assuming and hoping they are as I have just managed to ensure my sticky little paws will be grasping some in a few days, I don't have to wait until the new year now. It would be nice if someone could confirm that all H&C are good for a cuppa though.

Presumably they'll be simillar to Gigs, in that some will be stronger than others, and some with have alkaloid stains on the outside, some will have the 'fucked insides' where they smell bad, and all the seeds are stuck to the inner walls.

I think you are probably right there. I am looking forward to trying them though. I have been lucky with my Gigs. I have 2 suppliers and only 1 of them is guilty of sending more than a few nasty ones per batch. I hate it when they have those horrible cobwebby mouldy bits inside. Thankfully they are pretty cheap though anyway. I have looked at some American websites that sell pods and the prices are astronimical! It's unbelievable that anyone buys them at all.
