After researching poppy tea extensively and deciding to try something that would get me away from shady dealers who aren't exactly reliable for pills and such, I ordered 50 purple AZ pods. After realizing I gave the vendor the wrong address, (OH SHIT!) I ordered 50 more from someone else who was much more pleasant to deal with anyway. The first batch ended up getting to my house somehow, and so followed my first experiences with pod tea.

Because I hate skimming over preparation methods etc. to get to the actual trip report, I'll save the details for the end. My first time I used one large pod and didn't really enjoy the effects, which were somewhat nauseating and too lethargic to move. The second time around, I used two mediums and a small pod and got completely blown away!

Unlike other reports of the drug taking 2-3 hours to take effect, the pods hit me instantly after the first sip. It starts out feeling very much like a downer or sedative with only the mildest hint of dizziness and slowly progresses to the strongest high I've ever felt. The second time I tried the tea, I was amazed at the visual changes I got: white "neon" lights when I blinked, enhanced vividness and color, and seemingly sharper vision, with tiny details jumping to life everywhere. My muscles get warm and relax, but I also get a renewed sense of energy after the come up, where I feel compelled to exercise, clean house or just sit there feeling happy. Music sounds delishious, every touch reverberates through my cells leaving goosebumps all over, and I find myself unable to stop smiling. Any lack of motivation, optimism, energy or relaxation I feel in my sober state vanishes, as well as the nagging pains in my neck, knees and lower back. As the experience begins to wane some 2-3 hours after my first sip, I smoke a one-hitter bowl of ganj to boost the experience, which it does nicely. The word that always comes to mind when I think of opiates is "repose".

As for side effects, I got no nausea, mood swings, strong cravings to repeat the experience, or exhausted feelings I get from pill comedowns. I do think I experienced a mild physical withdrawal this morning after 2 days off in a row, which consisted of godawful nightmares, a cold sweat and moderate stomach pain that went away upon awakening.

I know 3 days a week is probably too much to avoid withdrawals, but I feel that as long as I stick to it, which I have and will due to an exaggerated fear of addiction and illness and lack of previous addiction to any substance, I'll be able to enjoy the tea as a reward after a hard day without having to depend on some skeezy ass dealer or feeling the need to take multiple pain pills everyday until I run out. The very nature of the tea: the in-depth preparation, long lasting effects, and gentle comedown make me less likely to overdo it, whereas the short euphoric burst of a high that pills provide makes me want to do them again and again.

Now for the preparation:

*3 pods ground to a fine powder using a weed grinder.
*Heat water using a coffee maker.
*Add powder directly to water and let simmer with coffee maker on for 30 minutes.
*Strain through coffee filter into cup.
*Put filter w/pod material in coffee maker and run tea water back through.
*Add goji berry-flavored green tea and a pinch of ginger powder to mask taste.
*Sip steadily until appropriate state of mind/body is reached. %)

I don't recommend pod tea to anyone with a lack of willpower, but think it's a reasonable alternative to other opiates for some people, like those with pain that is not being treated by doctors or for occasional use in mentally healthy people looking to take the edge off.

Great read , The high should last a lot longer than 2-3 however , usually its more like 10-12 hours before I'm back to baseline

Nice report! I've been toying with the idea since I learned that the stuff literally grows around everywhere. Glad to hear that there isn't any craving.
Do you think your discomfort the first time was coincidence? Or did you just not take enough?

Sorry about naming the thread wrong! The one you gave it is fine :) Guess I'm used to Erowid's format...

Yeah, the high probably DOES last longer than 2-3 hours for me, I'm just one of those people who considers the high to be over with after the peak, lol.

I think the discomfort, which was very minimal, was due to my body adjusting to the drug. As with all drugs I've done, the first time I didn't really get high which is nothing new to me. I started with a small dose because I have virtually no tolerance and have read lots of negative things about nausea, etc. and am glad I did. Taking more definitely made the high better, though.

Am I the only person who looks forward to the "wild and crazy" dream sessions after the nod with pst or pod tea?:\

Your preparation method is great! Coffee machines are a blessing to we herbal infusers.

Don't get too caught up in the high. Pods are notoriously difficult a habit to break. The long lasting duration means that you need at least 3 to 5 days between each day of usage, if use is to be continued for a month or so. Using 3 days in a row with pods is different than with pills. For those 3 days, you will have pretty high opioid blood levels, meaning you are high for the whole of those 3 days (as opposed to getting high and sleeping it off to morning sobriety with pills or other short-acting opioids). In my experience, long-lasting opioids are far more addictive than short-acting opioids, if you are on a 1 or 2 dosages / day type schedule.

do it more and more you make it betta trust me......lasts a good maybe 2-4 based on your opiate tollerance. Well the nice warm yummy feeling.

What does this mean? What are you replying to?

To the OP-
Do you standard your batches? It makes it much easier to dies if you grind up everything all at once when you get it, since there are such differences between the potency of pods. It keeps really well in the fridge, just stick it in an airtight container.
