so i'm pretty new new to PP and just tried 1st time about 2 months ago (although not new to opiates) and did research on it prior. since then, i've been eating approximately 20-30g (seeds, stems, tea, and all) ONLY 1-2 times a week and only on weekend (recreational). i never had any bad side effects or WD symptoms...i should also mention that i'm pretty healthy overall and workout/diet alot and am careful about what drugs i do and how often. i mainly just smoke mj and occasional opiate use or trip.

so last weekend i had 2 extra days off work, so like a dummy i tempted fate and had 3 days in a row of the sludgy goop. everything seemed fine except since then i have had SLIGHT WD symptoms... in fact, so slight that i couldnt even tell they were WD symptoms at 1st. The only symptoms i have had are lack of sleep (the worst one), slight anxiety, and slight chills/sweat. the lack of sleep i have had before from workout suppliments so i didnt even think it was attributed to the PP's.

its been 4-5 days now like this and every night i've only had about 4 hours or less of sleep. the weird thing is now that i've accepted i'm not sleeping, i have all my daily energy haha...its as if i DID sleep a full 8 hours even though i didnt sleep for shit!! wtf lol (surprisingly the lack of sleep hasnt affected day to day activities)

so i have just a couple of questions.

1st and foremost, is there anything i can take to sleep at night???! cause thats been the biggest problem. in fact the other symptoms i could care less about they are very minor.

2nd, can i take a SINGLE full dose ONE TIME this weekend or am i asking for trouble and WD be worse?????

3rd, if i CANT take a dose to get high from no problem. but should i take a taper down dose (like 1/2 what i normally take) to kill WD??

4th, how many more days of NON sleepless nights should i have? i mean i might as well just not do it this weekend at all and if i cant sleep no big deal cause its the weekend with no work anyway!?

so can i take a full dose without having WD even though i have MINOR symptoms now or should i just not take at all? or should ihave a taper down dose?

it seems to me that WD symptoms should be ending soon since they are minor / slight and its been 4-5 days already??

if thats the case i might as well just not have any this weekend so WD should be out of my system by monday??? and then either quit, or dose less frequently.

thank you all, sorry for the long post/rant. i have searched the forum, but its kind of hard for me to find the specific things i'm asking. i appreciate any help!

You don't need to taper, your addiction is still mild & you've got through the worst of it already. My advice...leave the pods alone full-stop, & maybe get a weeks worth of benzo's to help you sleep (don't keep taking the benzo's).

You'll be fine

I suggest waiting and not dosing again until withdrawals have completely ceased. Dosing now is likely to set the whole thing in motion again or just prolong the w/d process.

For sleep, you should try valerian root, kava or passionflower. Antihistamines like doxylamine and diphenhydramine are also great sedatives, as are benzos and some types of pot (indica). Exercising vigorously during the daytime and then taking time in the evening to unwind before bed can really help too.

I think you should be done withdrawing by Monday. If you're able to get 4-5 hours sleep, count your blessings that things aren't worse! If I were in your situation, I wouldn't bother tapering, just wait it out. Then limit use to once a week or so after that.

When I came off pods I slept for about an hour for each of the first two nights; my sleep was back to normal on night six.

thanks alot for the responses guys i really appreciate it!

yea last night was probably the best sleep i've had so far since... i still had some issues and woke up early but not too bad...

so no pods for this weekend, thats ok... geez the wd symptoms come so fast from it, but then i guess me eating all the grounds, seeds, stem, crown, etc doesnt help haha

i wonder if having more POTENT pods would actually ease dependency / wd? i mean currently i have to eat like 33g to get a good buzz. but thats probably due to having less potent pods...? they were 100 large pods/$100, but from a known good source. BUT if i were to have like super potent pods, and only have to eat like maybe 5-10g, then wouldn't that be less crap being processed by my system?? or would just be all super concentrated within that 5-10g?

after this, i will just limit it to a special occasion type of thing anyway....

i haven't tried the 1st 3 you listed (valerian, kava, passion), but did try benedryl, nyquil, benzos, pot (indica), sleeping pills, all of which did absolutely nothing for sleep.

one post i found recommended melatonin. how effective has this been for people? and how does it compaer to valerian/kava, etc...?

thanks again

Cattapress, a drug for hypertension, might help you. Withdrawl causes an about face of a number of things in your body. Badly dependent people can go from respiratory depression to hyperventilation, relaxation and sleep to restless and insomnia, hypo to hyperthermia, etc. You get a huge cascade of norepinephrine that begins to dump and can keep you tossing and turning. Kava at high doses is very similar to benzo's. Sounds like you have pretty good self control, keep using it.

If benzo's didn't help you sleep, I highly doubt Valerian or Kava will. A lot of people say Benadryl actually makes the symptoms worse. I've tried it before for sleep, and don't think it actually made them worse, but it didn't help either

But honestly with a habit like yours it shouldn't be that tough to stop. You only went 3 days in a row, which should really be a slight annoyance to kick if anything. Just tough it out a few more days, take a few benzo's at night if you really can't sleep, but don't go taking them every day.

It should be over real soon.

At that stage of w'drawal, you are over the worst as someone said. A mix of oxazepam (try on its own first), and seroquel about 50mg should have you out. SQ on its own should do the trick, but if you mix it, you should be able to get some good sleep.

If you can get hold of lyrica, about 600mg should have you sleep. You can mix it with benzos safely, and try that. Worked for me (was given it in rehab for sleep during opiate w'drawl and it did work - the doses were about three times the normal dose for a non addicted person.

Time is the best healer. Insomnia is the thing I hate most about op wdrl.

good luck

When you stop using a drug you get a lot of the opposite effects. So you know how opiates calm and bring on a nod? When you stop taking them you can get the opposite effect of feeling wired. It's just your body;s way of trying to get back to balance since after using for days in a row it adapted to the drug as normal. Now that you are off your body is going the other way, but before long it will find center again. You just need to keep off the pods. Take something over the counter if you need it, like tylenol PM. Loperamide (immodium) can help if you are having the runs, but if you aren't that's a good sign you aren't too heavy into it that your digestive system was affected (another opposite effect - when on opiates your digestion slows down and you get constipated, when you stop you get the runs). Good luck and just be thankful you aren't too far in. Now is the time to stop!

thx again everybody. last night was the best night so far. i was able to sleep a full 8 hours pretty much! so i guess wd symptoms are pretty much gone then as far as i can tell...

no more poppy abuse haha at least now i know my limit to avoid problems in the future.
