Opioids Poppy Pod Tea withdrawal

Naggers- I'll throw in 2 cents here. I've taken Opium Pod T every summer since 2006, except 2008; the first few times were fewer & farther between & i never got any withdrawal symptoms, but that was because i wasn't using a potent enough pod.

Eventually i found some extraordinary poppies & was astonished at the strength. If you've only taken codeine before then opium is a whole other ball game. Opium is subtle by way of slow onset in contrast to codeine which hits in 15 mins or so.

With opium you question its presence for an hour or so, a + 1 if u like, then after 90 mins there is no question about it. You're fucked. It does only good things except for slicing you're testicles off.

In summary i'd like to say that i've taken pod T myself this year about a dozen times: this year is the first time i've ever noticed withdrawal, except for when i was smoking raw O, i've just never found opiates to be as addictive as say benzos or cocaine, but this year i haven't been able to have a bender on it & then step back, kind of like with psychedelics.
Therefore i'm on day 3 of Poppy Pod Tea Withdrawal as i've started to notice the following approx 36-48 after dosing:
* bad leg cramps & pain.
* liquid shitting, cured with 6mg loperamide
* general anxiety
* lack of motivation/ambition
* some insomnia
* appetite problems. I'm 5'10 & 155 pounds but cold turkey has given me an eating disorder...

Tread carefully on this icy desert.

I've been using every other day for a couple months. I'm lucky to have had it click that I was becoming physically dependent before it got worse. The only withdrawal symptoms I have been experiencing are runny nose, joint pain (manageable with ibuprofen & tylenol), and some mild (non-suicidal) depression.

Strangely, I didn't get any insomnia or restless legs, in fact I've been sleeping A LOT more than when I was on the pod tea regularly, up to 18 hours a day combined.

I have six pounds of pods left and I'm glad I took a break before I went through that six pounds because no doubt the withdrawal would've been much worse after consuming those 6lb.

The only thing that kept me from using daily was constipation. I couldn't deal with being plugged up continually so I always took at least 24 hours off to get regular movements again.

Well I tried my first dose Tuesday night. I was suprised how fucking huge the pods actually are ("giganteum"), almost the size of my fist. Seeing as they were so large, I decided to start with just 2 pods. I crushed them up with my hand (there were people over so I couldn't use the coffee grinder), boiled a mug of water, left the water for 5 minutes and then added it to the pods. Stirred/steeped for around 20 minutes, then poured through a dishcloth and squeezed the cloth tightly to strain the pods (they were pretty dry after straining with this method). The liquid was very dark brown, so I took this to mean the preparation was successful. The taste wasn't all that bad - I'm quite into my green teas and this was no worse than some that I've tried. I felt a slight twinge after about 30 minutes, kind of like a codeine dose coming on, which went after 10 minutes. Then that was it. My pupils were tiny but no other noticeable effect, I could even pee fine.

Second attempt: yesterday afternoon. Three pods, ground into powder/fine particles in the coffee grinder. I emptied the seeds this time, as I hear that's what you do. Same method as yesterday, bit more water, boiled and left for 10 minutes. Steeped and stirred for 20 minutes, then strained. I then did a CWE on the grounds after this. I drank the first, left the cwe in the fridge to see if I get any effects from the hot water extraction. After an hour, I felt only mild effects, so I strained and swigged the CWE too. Throughout the night I had tiny pupils and couldn't pee AT ALL. I was busting for a pee all night! However, still no typical opiate euphoria or warmth. I did wake up this morning barely able to walk though, after about 13 hours sleep.

I guess it's just a matter of finding the right dose. My codeine tolerance is ~500mg so I guess I just need to up my dose a bit. I'm gonna try 5 pods sometime in the next few days when I get chance. However, after these 2 failed attempts, I'm already fiending for another dose. I guess it's a mental thing, I was expecting to get high and I didn't so I want that high even more now... Probably gonna wait until Saturday or Sunday to try and space it out a bit.

Well I've only managed to find one website that sells them over here; not sure if that's an indication of low supply or low interest. It was £40(GBP) for a 0.5kg box of giganteum, whicb contained about 34 huge pods (as described above) and about 3 or 4 smaller ones, just under half the size. They sell hens and chicks too for £45, same weight. As this is. My first time buying pods I have no idea if this is expensive or not, but £5 -£6 for a high is a bit expensive IMO. Would convert this to dollars but I'm posting from my phone atm. Would you say this is expensive compared to what you paid in the past?

OP

Carry on with tapering, take just enough to stop withdrawals, a little less each day. Try missing days when you have nothing to do & just stay in bed readind or whatever.

Then switch to codeine, a far easier and milder habit to manage. Worked for me.

I'd say this is maybe a little more expensive than what I used to pay, however compared to what I pay now it's not so bad :\ Currently I'm paying almost $20 to get high - once! Now sure the high lasts all night and into the next day but it's fucking pricey. 10 dollars worth used to be enough to get me high when I had a tolerance but that was while their were plenty of poppies available.

Over here in the US, I know of at least 3 reputable supplier who are completely out of stock until further notice. Another vendor has remained open for a while but doubled their prices. Today I checked their website and they now have a banner saying that they are very low on stock, and increased their prices again. Supply and demand at it's finest I suppose.

Thanks for answering my question Naggers, I was just curious. Who knows, maybe the US government is cracking down on and restricting the sale of poppies. I hope not though :(

naggers try grinding the pods up then just eating them. maybe mixed with yogurt or just wash down spoonfuls like you would with a pill. Makes it way stronger.

Maybe there's been a huge surge in interest in dried flower arrangements, quasistoned =p
I have seen a lot of threads on BL recently about pod tea, so maybe more and more people are discovering it? Hopefully your supply will increase after the August/September harvests :)

Cheers for the tip, ech0, i might try eating the grounds after making tea from them :).

if you don't think you can go cold turkey and just get through it then use your tea through your trip so you don't ruin it for everybody. then schedule a leave of absense or vacation from work and detox. yeah suboxone could help you i had a relapse on vicoden one time. went to sub dr and with in 2 wks i was done. had mild and im talking mild hot flashes for a couple days. barely even noticable. why put all this pressure on yourself to get off by your trip? plan your detox and do it.

is it legal to buy pods? what are they? the actual poppy plant the seed casing? ive been an opiate user for years currently on oxy but its getting harder to get and going to 2 dif dr is illegal afraid of getting in legal issues i keep seeing people on these threads talking about pods and was wondering if its legal to buy them on the net. i AM NOT ASKING FOR ANY SOURCES. was just curious about this culture that until now ive heard nothing about. i got big enough problems so i have no intention on doing it. and what is kratom? another thing ive never heard of. i saw someone say it makes withdrawl easier. now that is something that appeals to me because im in the middle of a taper to get ready to go on subs. although the thought has crossed my mind that the tea might help if i get stuck with out my meds. so enlightlen me on the tea and kratom please. how does that work

In the U.S. it's a very murky enigmatic gray area. The law against them is mostly unenforced if sold dried for ornamental purposes. Many florists do use them in wreaths and such. They are dried heads with some of the stem.

AFAIK nobody has been busted for simple possession. The author Jim Hogshire was caught possessing them in the 90s but he was raided for possessing other, blatantly Schedule I stuff not just for pods.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If vendors start getting raided then I would start worrying.
