If you want to skip the reading, my overall question is in red.
I definitely would not call myself opiate naive however I'm most certainly not a regular/heavy user and never was. For a little background: Back when I was prescribed percocet for tooth pain, which was less than 2 years ago, I barely had any experience with opiates at all. 10mg would make me feel great, pretty consistently too. I remember on several occasions that even just 10mg of hydrocodone with a beer or two and some weed would get me lit. My craziest opiate experience was my only IV experience. Hydromorphone, 1mg IV once an hour for 3 hours, just to give you an idea of how little opiate it would take to get me soaring.
Since then, I've drank poppy pod tea a whole bunch of times over the past couple months, but never habitually. Only would drink it on weekends, and never drank tea two days in succession, meaning I'd basically only drink 1-2 cups a week, only on weekends never on a weekday. I started out using about 20g per cup and I'd be floored. My last cup I had was about 40g and it only gave a moderate mood lift. I stopped drinking tea altogether about a month ago. FYI I didn't have any withdrawals, or anything like that, probably because I simply never made a real habit out of opiate use.
About a week or two ago, my roomie just handed me a bottle of vicodin saying he didn't want them (score!
). Expecting the same as I always did from pain pills, and also expecting my tolerance to have gone down a little bit due to not using tea in about a month, I took two (10mg) along with 1mg clonazepam, and was pretty disappointed when I got no effects! Another day I tried taking 20mg, along with 1mg clonaz, some beer and some weed, and again, no effects! Last night, I made a last effort at it. 25mg hydrocodone, 60mg DXM, 1mg clonazepam, 400mg cimetidine, beer and weed. Still absolutely no effects!!!!
So, my questions:
Has anyone noticed that poppy pod usage has "ruined" other opiates for you?
Does it make sense that my opiate tolerance has become so high from such use?
Is it normal to be able to build such a tolerance to opiates and not go through withdrawals upon stopping?
Would this be what most people consider a rather high tolerance?
Could something be wrong?
What other factors could contribute to opiate tolerance?
Aside from DXM, is anything else known to aid with opiate tolerance reduction?
Does anyone know anything about the effect of lamotrigine (Lamictal) on opiate effects, tolerance, etc? I know it does something with the opioid receptors, but not sure what. I'm on 200mg daily. I've searched and searched and found nothing on this.
Sorry if this is a rather pointless thread, but it definitely bugs me! Knowing that just a couple months ago I could take 2 vicodin and be pinned all night, and now I can take 5 of them, amongst other things, and not feel a thing.
Thanks in advance for the answers!
