Opioids poppy pod/seed tea duration questions

After doing some research about the many alkaloids in opium which is what these teas are consisting of in basic terms, i still dont understand why the effects can last all day if not into the next day.

i mean there is -morphine,codeine and maybe a trace amount of other opies but what causes these very long lasting effects. according to wiki and the like most natural opiates only last 4-6 hrs??

any help would be nice
 
The reason it last so long is that there are active metabolites from multiple natural opiates...

This means an extended activity profile compared to a single compound.

Not to mention that enzymes get clogged up and stuff doesn't get broken down by typical means...
