Not practical. I can't even find out what the polystyrex is, chemically.

I meant extracting poly from delsym. not breaking time release

I've done it. Didn't really like the high from it; sorta felt stupid for 2-3 days and never really reached much of a peak.

HBr is much more fun imo, even though you have to chug a ton of syrup. Delsym is expensive as hell anyway.
