on the real though, i think GM is slacking... i mean, look at these poll options. the lack of definite answers makes me feel like a magic 8 ball

We will review the current poll options, make any changes we feel necessary, submit them for peer review, run them by the lawyers, bring them before the board for approval, and then get back to you.

Is OD perfect? No.

Does seeing "I swear snorting my xanax makes me feel ten times higher!" annoy me? Yeah, a little.

Do the OD mods do a good job? Of course.

Do I sometimes question their closure of threads? Yeah, of course.

and finally, does the OD forum ultimately serve its purpose? Yes.
Well put. I don't cruise here too often because I don't really use "Other Drugs" but from what I see people are getting answers here.

One thing that does bother me though is people who are mean to the newbs or feel the need to laugh at stupid questions. I mean what is the point of posting "lol" or UTFSE in a thread? Why not just link to an answer and then kindly suggest the search engine? If you don't want to do that then why say anything? I think OD can take some lessons from ED. ED gets way more stupid questions and topics but people still get answers, everyone is generally happy and it is very newb friendly.

I believe the outlook of OD could become positive but as of right now im barley coming on .. the deletion of the social thread is one of them , first it was made to keep off topic posts and whatnot out of the other threads and so that people with the same interestes would be able to talk in the same thread which was what i normally came on here for is to see how everything was going with everyone else and maybe browse a few other threads . then it was deleted because of "it was made for new members to come and talk with the older members " sounds more just like an excuse to delete it .. there was nothing wrong with having 1 thread to allow other memebers to have centered conversation in their focus forum of choice. especially if thats where the spend most of their time.

and the post about ragging on new members about using the search engine , its true its not hard , if certain people would take 5 minutes to actually look instead of being insanley inpatient and just wanting their answer , they would find it just fine .. and possibly even notice that just a few posts down some idiot just posted the exact same thread and THEN when they dont get the answer they want and the thread is closed they go and continue to make new thread after new thread just to ask a question ...

To the new members STOP reviving 1 , 2 and 3 year old threads just get your post count up . this is extremly annoying and if you managed to find a thread this old that was already discussed it will have most of the answers you seek already answered within.

To decrease the amount of posts related to prices and general inquires to things like benzos and opiates etcetera make the 2008 price thread and other drugs directory in BOLD lettering and resticky to the top of the page . if they arent already.

and lets rethink the possibility of a pill id thread .. as there seems to hae been an increase in those.

these are only opinions and are not statements . do what you will .

as for now my outlook is positive.

"Outlook" doesn't exactly equal performance. I think everyone should have a positive outlook, or they shouldn't be posting here. I mean even if you think the forum is in bad shape, that doesn't mean you can't have a positive outlook as to the future of the forum.

I wonder if we'd asked people "do you think the quality of the forum is improving, (or has improved in the past few years)?" if the poll results would be the same? It's not exactly the same question IMHO.

To Sonic- Yea I think that would have been a better choice of wording..
Fuckin difficult though.
I really do love this forum. Great info, lots of debates, humour at times.
Safe advice.
The moderation is top notch too, but there's always gunna be those types of posts that don't belong.
Sometimes I feel certain ones aren't closed when they should be, but that's not up to me.

IMO "OD" is the state of the art newsgroup for the poly drug user. Keep up the good work!

Edit: Suggestion for improvement:
Have a separate forum for people to ask "Can I IV inject this pill?"

I feel like the only person at BL who just eats their pills with absolutley no desire to find out what happens to my arms, eyes or lungs when I inject pills.

Im lost. Is this poll suppose to be in response to the support thread, where members are suppose to rate the sites performance?

Not the sites performance, just OD's

You know what this poll is for. It's in response to everyones complains that OD is "down shit creek without a paddle."

I like how OD evolved and the fact that it recently became more harm reduction oriented and less "how do I abuse my medicine?" oriented. Keep it like this.

I lurk around here more frequently than I had been, believe it or not, and I have no problems with how OD is ran. The boys who mod this forum are doing a superb job. My only gripe is how some members deal with asking questions that, yes, probably have been asked before, but not everyone is as proficient at using searches and the internet, for that matter, as others.

People in OD have expressed that the forum isn't what they want it to be, or hasn't been for awhile. I don't think bitching and moaning will solve anything! If someone has something they don't like, then try and fix it. I don't understand what this poll is trying to accomplish. The current status of OD has nothing to do with the outcome of it. Like I said, I think the forum is getting better, and I do have a positive outlook on OD.

The outcome of the poll.

I don't understand what this poll is trying to accomplish. The current status of OD has nothing to do with the outcome of it.

If you were just fucking with him and I just took it way too seriously, I apologize.

i was probably nodding when i wrote that. I meant to ask if there is two questions being asked: How do you think OD is now?, and How do you think the outcome of OD is?. I thought the poll was talking about the future of OD, but some people here are talking about the here and now, or the yesterday of OD.

The poll is about the here and now. "What is your outlook on the forum right now? Negative, positive, or indifferent?"

OD will always be what people make it. It will forever be the shit hole full of "Can I snort muh vikadins guise?", and the desecrated warzone of tweekers vs. junkies. But it will also forever be the place where we can intelligently discuss the differences between methods of administration and bioavailability of certain pills and drugs and other worthy subjects.

I'm a newbie and spend most of my bluelight time on OD. This forum is great IMO. The moderators do an awesome job of shutting down asinine threads.

A lot of old schoolers complain about it's current state and I'm curious about what OD used to be like. I mean, was it really that much better back in the day?

I think some more clarification on price discussion in the rules would be good. I am under the impression that there is to be no discussion of price, neither asking what the price for something is, nor stating what you paid for it outside of the price thread. Is this correct? Some people seem to think that as long as you aren't asking for a price, stating one on your own is fine.

^ You do not post prices outside the price thread. Sometimes people will post prices instead of quantity in a thread, e.g. the worth of a bag of a dope being directly related to how much is in it. However it's much more preferable that people just post amounts in that case.

You also cannot query/comment on people's prices in the price thread; you just post your own prices, that's it. There is only lee-way if someone is using slang or jargon that is unfamiliar to most users, in which case we'll request that the poster clarifies.

I've been away the past few days, but I think this thread is a great idea and I look forward to reading the suggestions you guys have. ;)
