*crosses fingers*
c'mon non-evil parties....

hey this might be handy for those that vote below the line and know who they will put first, and last but are indifferent and know nothing about all thos parties in the middle! ...

Senate Ranking System
This system is designed to rank those parties that you have no opinion on, or know nothing about in the senate. At the moment, it only contains the NSW senate information.

The principle is that the parties who give preferences to the parties you prefer are more likely to have similar views and policies to the parties of which you approve. Conversely, if a party approves of a party that you disapprove of, or disapproves of a party you approve of, they are less likely to be a party to which you want to give votes.

It works by asking you to select a small number of parties that you do have an opinion on, and ranking these. It then matches this up with the ticket information on each of the parties. The information for this system was taken from the ABC's election website.

Only works for NSW at the moment but might help with those parties in the middle you know nothing about!

sorry. i'd missed the post you are referring to until now.

i gave you the thumbs up in support. i'd use the sarcastic emoticon if i was being sarcastic.
i said "you're brave" because i'd be worried about right wing fucks doing something to my house if i were to put a greens sign in the front yard.

ok cool, thanks for clearing that up :)

It's actually been knocked down about five times but i live in a street filled with red necks so it's to be expected 8(

I am basically a left leaning swinging voter and I honestly could not stand to see John Howard get voted in again. The man is most devious little worm that has ever been Prime Minister of this country. He lies about virtually everything, virtually every time he opens his mouth.

I am so sick of how short a memory Australians seem to have. All these people say that they dont trust Mark Latham compaired with "Honest John" have lost the plot. No other australian Prime Minister has ever been anywhere near as full of shit as John Howard. I dont understand how anyone could even contemplate giving him another chance.

Because of this I have a few questions. These are mainly about ecconomic concerns and there isnt much that we can do anbout them now, but they are food for thought....

Why the fuck do people keep on bringing up interest rates? The australian goiverment has nothing to do with Australian interest rates. You heard me. Nothing. Our rates are driven by the American economy.

Why do people think they are economically safer under Howard? Oh, they all cry, think about Keating and the early 90's economic downturn; at least Howard's given us a stable economy. Well firstly, out economy is in good shape because we are all buying above our means. So actually our economy is in terrible shape. Its just that no one has noticed yet. Secondly, the enormous budget surplus, which everybody keeps alluding too and both major parties are throwing around like 8 year olds with mud, came from GST revenue and that came straight out of the pockets of the less fortunate. So the vast masses of people commonly refered to as Howards Battlers are paying for everyones election sweetners.

Which brings me to my next somewhat related question; Why do people say they feel better off under a Howard goverment? The simple fact is, if you happen to be among the vast number of australians earning less than $70,000 you are worse off than you were before the introduction of the GST and, because the GST is uniform, you are paying tax on basic items which is funding the previously more heavily taxed luxury good sector. And no amount of hand outs, in the form of various stupid scemes which sound good and benifit no-one because the eligibility criteria are designed to exclude everyone, is going to fix that because they are only give you back money which you are having milked from you through the GST.

And finally; Why do Australians care so much about the ecconomy, which the goverment have a very limited say in, and such a careless attitude to social conerns, which is basically the only reason we have a government? I cant even begin to speculate on this one.

Meh.... ignore me... im not making much sense... to many beers and not enough sleep.

I feel that in politics you more often vote people out rather then in. Howards is shitting himself I recon, he feels the pressure.

damn anarchists :p ;)

Just remember liberal voters:
You are voting to keep a government in power that has no issue with locking up child refugees in detention camps. They are also liars who don't keep anything but a "core promises".

Vote Liberal fascism 2004! 3 more years of comrade Howard's glorious rule!

just voted latham..... how much fun is it giving the people handing out liberal vote cards dirty looks and/or telling them they must be joking.... i wish we did this every day

i really would like to know how anyone can rationalise voting howard.... hes a lying, snivelling weasel who is too far up bush and blairs buttcrack to run a council meeting, let alone a whole country.....

^ Yeah I really want to wear my jumper that has a picture of George Bush fucking John Howard on the front and "Don't vote liberal" on the back. Unfortunately it is rather hot out...

I think you can suffer a little to make a statement like that ;)

Now the big question people - who did you give the privilege of last spot to?

Fred Nile - WINNER!
