what's the protocol if I have to work that day?

Or... click here to get your postal voting application form :)

I had a sociology class today at uni and was really disappointed to hear that most of the class just doesn't give a shit about the election what so ever and wont go out of their way to educate themselves about it at all. These people are at uni so should (ideally) have at aleast half a brain, yet it's of no interest. Doesn't give me much hope :\

I may not agree with who people vote for, but I will respect a person's decision if they can show me their valid reasons why they've come to that decision.

Yeah it really depresses me. Whats worse, is those are the same people who are the first to complain when something fucks up in the country. I dont think they have any right to complain if they donkey vote or don't vote at all, i have no respect.

My 2 cents.

I have said it before and i'll say it again...

If i could wish for one thing and one thing only it would be that John Howard + George W get ousted this year. I feel so strong about that little statement its ridiulous....

Makes me sad to think about the state of the world :(

Notice all the terror and fear that has started to appear on the news lately?

Ruddock sprouting fear of indonesians in boats, howard and costello sprouting fear about interest rates....

aren't you sick of a government that lies to you and uses fear to get what it wants? I know I certainly am...

VOTE THE BASTARDS OUT

How To Start Your Day With A Positive Attitude:

  • Create a "new folder" on your computer.
  • Name it "John Howard".
  • Send it to the trash.
  • Empty the trash.
  • Your computer will ask "Do you really want to get rid of 'John Howard'?"
  • Answer calmly "Yes" and press the mouse button.
  • Repeat as required.

Landfill

That's funny.:D
I'm gonna do that.
*Hears mod's approachin' with rattlin' keys and is Swayze*

LMAO!!! I saw that in the craptastic Daily Telegraph .. and the motherfucker had placed the emphasis on Latham ..

That paper's right-wing fucked upness and latham bashing is a thread in its own right.

Wake up early....

Jump in cold swimming pool....

That will wake you up properly....and refreshed.

Then you will think a lot clear and your plans for the day...

Otherwise if fails... go back to bed.

haha!!

**slaps Urbie jealously**

It's topical and relevant and i still don't think i've had a thread closed so it would be an honour ;)

i'm really at a loss as to who to vote for. this is my first time voting too.
i'm not at all educated about any party's policies because from what little i know i dont like the sound of anything.
politics really frustrates me because i know how the world ought to be but i have no ideas about how these things could come into place.

maybe i just wont vote for anyone. i know i HAVE to vote, but no one says i have to put anything on my slip. all i have to do is be there.

The Greens Policy Set

I posted it on the first page, but people would rather make a post in this thread stating that they are uninformed about a certain parties policies, rather than clicking the link (not referring to you syntech). Lame if you ask me.

Change is always good! If you have no idea about anything this election, that is the biggest reason not to keep the current system. Voting Howard is effectly telling him that you are happy with how the country is being run at the moment ... how can you say such a thing with issues like;

- GST
- Children Overboard
- Asylum Seekers and Detention
- The Nauru 'Solution'
- Medicare
- Strict drug laws
- Possible arms race escalation in indo-pacific.
- The worst crime of all .. sucking George Bush's cock when more than half of the nation hate american's and don't agree with the Iraq war.
- etc. etc.

His slimey cabinet is one of the worst in history. Costello (Johnny Howard's successor in the future lib government) is undoubtedly the worst. With Ruddock following a close second. All you have to do is follow the news and watch question time for 2 weeks in order to uncover at least one lie by every single minister.

That's another thing .. watch question time whenever you have the chance .. it really helps in keeping up to date, learning how our system works and you get to watch John Howard lie about obvious issue's on a daily basis :D

2 types of people vote for liberal .. Rich people and people who live life with their eye's closed. If you are rich, then good for you, i'm jealous .. but whatever you do, please don't vote liberal because ... (there was more to this sentence, but its best left like that ;)).

And remember, in the words of Johnny: "THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT TRUST."

How can u trust this man when he has lied to you so many time in the past? I demand accountability in the next government! Although i'm not a labour man, i'm happy to see Latham running this country. His policies are better than Mr Howard's and he is honest (and youngish). He admitted to inhaling .. that is credibility defined :) ;)

oh yeah, vote greens ;)

but i'm not a fan of the greens either....and even if i did vote, theyre never gonna win, and theyre hardly gonna get enough seats to make a bigger difference than last time.
sorry if that sounds horribly negative!

i do agree with the greens about the harm minimisation issue...but we've all seen how much shit it has stirred up!! all those lovely rich british grandmas wont be happy!

and as for all the other issues theyve raised about dole payments etc....i dont even know how true they are....

*sigh* its all so difficult.

If you're not sure how true they are, then read the policy link supplied above.

Thanks to our wonderful preference system, it doesn't matter if who you voted for doesn't get in - choose your preferences carefully and determine where you want your vote to go. Also, polling suggests the Greens are set to win a few more seats in the senate (though not in the house of reps), so they will potentially hold the balance of power if enough people vote for them. Remember, you're not just choosing who will be PM, but how the whole system is going to work (senate distribution is really important).
Learn how the process works. Voting is an important decision on your own future, please don't waste it or make it carelessly.
