does anyone have a list of what police can and can't do like search you and stuff like that
i know about the pot laws in australia is that if you are found with pot
and over 18 you can have up too 15grams on you and get away with a fingerprinting/conferscation and a warning

and if your under 18 it's up to 30grams (they say by the time your an 'adult' you should know it's serious to have drugs on you)

anyone have any more? i like to know my rights. (i know most of my security guard rights, really good to yell at them your rights when they break them, they back off pritty quickly when you know what they can and can't do)
 
As someone who has been hassled by the cops plenty of times...I can give you a rough idea:

*This is for NSW really, so you gotta do more specific research for other states and territories.

*A police officer can legally search you if they suspect that you are either carrying or under the influence of an illicit substance.

*A police officer/s will explain to you why they are searching you and under what circumstances.

*If they find nothing on you, they have the right to do a strip search if they still have suspicion that you are carrying a quantity of contraband. (this is very rare, though arehole cops have been known to do it)

A police officer cannot verbally or phyically abuse you.

A police officer can restrain you if you refuse to comply.

The laws in NSW are crap, basically. I would avoid pigs in general. And if you get questioned, then you better act dumb, but not too dumb....I would go further into it, but I think the mods would consider it information that helps ppl break the law.

Be a smooth bugger, that's all I can say.

thanks man. that help alot. i am in NSW so yeah

i have a real silver tounge hahah i get police cut for fun if i'm clean and have nothing on me.
no.1! thing to do is when i see a cop and i'm right in front of them i yell " SHIT IT'S THE COPS!" and run haha and 1/4 of the time i get chased and i run about 100m then just top and walk. they get very pissed off. hehe but it's all in good fun. when i'm high as a kite tho i kind of put my hood on and blend into the background and hope they go.

(haha once i was soooo trash and i was in the dress from scream, you know the ghost faced killer, anyway i got pulled over for walking around at night looking like a loon and they are talking to my friends and i'm at the back of the stationwagon car where their are 2 dogs barking at me and i'm pretending to bite them hahah they kept asking what i was doing because they couldn't see and my friends just kept saying don't worry about him, he has ADD hahahah ahhh good time)
 
I am use to live in Australia but I'm temporaly in Thailand belive me You guys are very lucky here in thailand The cops can shoot you in the head if they suspect you of being involved drugs dealing or using.
