Woman, man arrested after hostage situation in Biscayne Boulevard motel

A man trying to evade police held a mother and child hostage for several hours Thursday inside a Miami motel, police said, forcing busy Biscayne Boulevard closed while officers worked to get everyone out safely.

Late Thursday, police arrested the alleged hostage-taker, who was wanted in a robbery case in Miami, said police spokeswoman Detective Keandra Simmons.

The child’s mother, whom police did not identify, was arrested on a bench warrant in an unrelated case as well as on drug charges, Simmons said.

hahaha....you know they had her write her statement against the kidnapper first before they told her they would also be arresting her for drugs.

I do not get what is so absurd about this, she had a bench warrant and illegal substances on her. Should she have just gotten off because of the kidnapping charge?

^I dunno, it just seems pretty inhumane and despicable to throw someone in jail right after they were rescued from kidnappers, the law be damned. Anybody who could do that to another person has empathy problems bordering on sociopathy.

^^ You mean psychopathy? Im pretty sure psychopath = no emotion/feeling/remorse/etc and sociopath = psychopath PLUS the urge to kill people. I could be wrong though.

Either way, my feeling on this depends on what the prior warrant was for. They had no reason to arrest her for drugs after some shit like this, that's just fucked. But it doesn't say what her bench warrant is for, for all we know she's a violent offended. Granted it's also most likely for drugs, im just sayin'..

specific to the city: one of the reasons they're being so aggressive is that they fear for their careers whenever there are kids involved. A month ago a man dissolved two of his adoptive children in acid and many of the workers have lost their jobs in the aftermath.

A bigger problem is how everybody has warrants. Almost every druggie I know has warrants because of financial shit. I have warrants because of some issues with my drivers license--issues that require thousands of dollars and possibly some jail time. These days when I drive, my entire life is in that rearview mirror. Any vehicle even remotely suggesting law enforcement is to be avoided.

I knew that show "The Wire" portrayed American cops in WAY too good of a light. McNulty and those others would never have done this, and that show is brutally cynical even. But it shows cops as honest people trying to do their jobs, which is obviously bullshit. But its still a cool show.

I think thats the important thing here, not any of your fucking warrants. Jsut turn yourself in you monster.

thats MDPD for your ass
" to patrol and harass"
thats what should be logod on the side of the bacon mobile
