A 19-year-old mother is under arrest on child abuse and aggravated DUI charges after police say she left her five-week-old baby strapped in a car seat on top of her car and drove off.

The child is said to be in good condition and now in custody of Arizona Child Protective Services.
At about 1 a.m. Saturday, Phoenix police officers got calls that a baby was in a car seat in the middle of a road.

Phoenix Fire Department officials found the baby and took him to a local hospital. He was "perfectly OK," said Officer James Holmes, spokesman for Phoenix police.

Holmes said the mother, Catalina Clauser, had apparently been smoking marijuana late Friday night at a nearby park with her boyfriend. At about 11 p.m. they left the park to buy some beer. The boyfriend was arrested on aggravated DUI charges while on the way, Holmes said.

An upset Clauser then reportedly went to a friend's house where, she admitted, she smoked more marijuana, Holmes said. By midnight, Clauser left the house with the baby asleep in the car seat.

She realized the baby was missing when she reached home.

Oh lighten up folks.

Let's be happy the baby was fine and lay off the mother: perhaps all of you have never made a mistake in your lives but newsflash: most people are not perfect.

^yeah really, people forget things sometimes, how many times have you seen someone leave a coffee on top of their car and drive off? don't see them getting shit from anyone.

a mistake, ive made plenty. But never when someone's life was in jeopardy. I hate irresponsible potheads they ruin it for the majority of us.

Come on! We know nothing about this woman, the baby and their circumstances but after reading a tiny news report we feel qualified to weigh in and explain just how terrible and irresponsible this woman is.

Am I really the only evil person who giggled at this? Oy vey.

^ It is true that we know very little about the woman and the situation.
But anyone who gets so messed up that they make such a mistake (assuming that it is true) is not a responsible parent.
Instead of her focus being on the child, it was somewhere else.
That is fine sometimes, as long as there is little risk to the child, but in this case there was very great risk.

No people aren't perfect - and yes i've made many mistakes in my life.

I've spilled drinks, walked into people, lost my keys...
But, i've never endangered a fucking childs life. You act as if what she did was totally normal and fine, when in fact it's up there with leaving the baby in the bath while you go downstairs and coming back to a drowned baby.

OH ITS KK M8 WOZ JUST AN ACCIDENT LYK LOL HAV U NEVA MED MISTEKS???

^thats what your post sounds like to any sane person.

Have you never heard of playing devil's advocate?

Apparently not. Why not go play in the Daily Mail's website where you'll find many other earnest and like-minded people to get outraged about stories such as this with?

Gottta go, sounds like the kids have got into my gun safe again.

scary...its doesnt make me wanna stop my ADD meds :S ...i just got a 6month boy. One thing is sure it should be a ''RED ALERT'' for ppl that have kids but think there ''alterated state'' habit isnt that much of problem

I've always thought that in a civilized society anything was up for grabs, even parenthood or [heaven forbid] private drug use. The key is licensing just as one would a vehicle. Road test?

Parental assumption without guidance and knowledge?

Drug Education? Psychedelics and minor stimulants among educated adults. No harm, just a legal requirement.

But of course this isn't reasonable because those with the stamps to grant these licenses would abuse them. Too many shits in the world for civilization, no wonder we fall back on that defensive a term. We're "civilized." Shouldn't it be inferred? Why mention so often if not to justify something that isn't entirely there?

No, we're not too far from the Southern terrestrial flesh-eating killer ape we evolved from.

Most of us, anyhow.
