fading stars. 30-12-2003
By rewiiired
I remember you back then
sitting close to me, in my arms
in the twilight of the morn, as you
smoked your cigarette
and we held each other close
under a sky of fading stars.
Your pink hair, dyed and re-dyed,
my lack of sleep, my reddened eyes.
Such simplicity and peace your eyes,
I thought, I don't deserve this.
You're hear and you love me, but it's
just a matter of time till you wake up
just a matter of time till we break up
when in a moment you realize I'm worthless.
then I'll think of you every time
I see a girl in bright pink hair
I hear a song by Sublime or I even
think of punk rock or California
every time I see a movie with
Claire Danes in it, or turn on the
television to find reruns of
My-So-Called Life, every time
I play a game of pool or hear
about a Monnbeast.
I think about how you used to
always lick your lips
I remember how you used to
jump up and down when you got excited
I remember standing in the coffee shop that one day
and hearing that song Runaway, Runaway,
you were the bright sun that lit up
the darkest of my darkest days
and that day, it hasn't ended yet, my dear,
I haven't chanegd and you're no longer here,
only in dreams, only as a voice on the telephone
that makes me smile broad and wide,
only in rare visits from your new life so far away
and I can't help but think about what
could've been what never was, like always,
and I keeping thinking, maybe someday,
maybe someday...
And I remember you back then
as I sit here holding me in my own arms
in the twilight of the morn, as I
smoke my cigarette, and I recall
when we held each other close
and in the sky I see a falling star...
