~Poem of the Week~4-26-04 ~day_for_night~

[cherub]

I have been struggling all day it seems coming and going reading again over and over poems, I realize I have such respect for all the poet's and writters in here,, choices get harder every week,,,, we keep rasing the bar on not what is good but what is great and moves us.

day_for_night has always been a favorite poet of mine, as well as a respected member of this website in general in my eyes.
His work tends to make people think,,,,, or grab a dictionary at times :D
but all in all his writting is always something I think we all enjoy reading.

day_for_night
feigned smiles


they come and go like hushed commuters
staying for a brief moment
departing not long thereafter
for they have made a wrong turn
the wrong turn into me

i will slowly drive them all away
one by one
lining them up like dominos
a sudden breath, and i can watch them fall away
a few pausing long enough for a feigned smile

funny little twists of fait
ill timed words
always the last to know
either by choice
or sheer dumb blindness

ignorance is bliss
if only i were stupid enough to be happy
