PMA and EZ test

As far as I can tell from researching the latest posts, there still has been NO verification of the EZ test result for PMA-- I suppose that PMA could return black or purple. Until an offical statement from dancesafe or EZ test is made, I wouldn't rely on EZ test to screen for PMA. If I am incorrect about this, please feel free to flame me.

The fat Blue TNTs, for instance, have turned out jet black on EZ tests. I suspect, however, they are PMAs. A number of people felt ill or just bogged out of them recently.
There have been posts about the fabulousness of these pills, but i also suspect these people are also the marketers or in mere acts of shrilling.
in any case, that is a good point you bring up, PMAs should in theory test black/purple.

Why should they "in theory" turn purple-black? I was under the assumption that the methylenedioxy chain of MDMA/MDA/MDE caused purple-black.
PMA is paramethoxy amphetamine, so the only commonality between PMA and the MDxx's is the amphetamine chain on the end. If you think it's the amphetamine chain that causes this purple reaction, then why do straight (meth/)amphetamines show up as orange, according to the test kit?
BTW, the people saying that PMA pills are good don't necessarily have to be the marketers. PMA (in the proper dose) is supposed to be quite fun, since it releases massive quantities of serotonin, as well as dopamine and epinephrine. It's proper dose just happens to be about half the mgs as MDMA, and the LD50 of it is much lower than MDMA, hence all the deaths attributed to it.

Here's a suggestion: If it doesn't go the wonderful colour that indicates MDMA content, don't take the pill- ... I wouldn't care what was in it after a letdown such as that.

They tested the mitsubishi's that were PMA and indeed there is NO colorchange. Please spread the word. This is just yet another reason to test your tabs!

PMA seems to turn up everywhere now. Austria and Denmark are latest countries that I heard about, with reports of people who died from it.....
It has also surfaced in Holland, the Dutch government seems quite curious about it.

I think they're looking for an answer AJ and I wish I could give something definitive...unfortunately, until the authorities actually supply us with a verified source of PMA to actually test (it is really hard to obtain this), it will all be text book science.
The Chemical Generation chemist has listed what he knows about the chemical makeup of PMA and what should happen under Marquis reagent....it's listed here :

As soon as we have that supply, we'll let you know for sure what colour it will test.
Good luck...

No, that's not correct.
According to the Dancesafe website, they use gas chromotography in a laboratory situation to test these pills (as in the case of the PMA-containing Mitsubishi) and (like TLC plates) that does not show 'colours'. It does not use Marquis Reagent either. It works on an entirely different process.
Nobody (to my knowledge here) has found a verified source of pure PMA and tested it with Marquis Reagent. If someone has, please pass on the results for us all to share and understand.

The fact that PMA doesn't change colour with Marquis reagent was something that has been posted several times by Candyflip (from me), and by me in the 'Fooling the EZ test' forum.
It would seem to have been resolved, although I'd still like to confirm it with a verified sample myself.
Our new tester E2 will positively identify PMA, as mentioned in another forum. Visit the-peak.com.au for ordering details. Available very soon!
