Plugging RCs stored in alcohol: How diluted does it need to be?

I usually store my RCs in water and then freeze them so that there is no bacterial growth. With 2C-I, I haven't noticed any lack of potency.

However, I'm getting some 4-AcO-DMT and I hear that water can cause it to degrade, so it looks like vodka is the way to go.

If I mix a ratio to where the vodka/4-AcO-DMT solution is about 5ml, and then added 5ml of distilled water would the burn be reduced or eliminated? or would I need to add 10ml? 15ml?
(I have plugged amounts as much as 20ml with no problem holding it in).

There is no danger plugging that small amount of alcohol, correct? (considering there are 30ml in an ounce)

I suppose I could experiment on my own, but I would rather learn from someone else's mistakes! :)

Thanks!

Vodka has water in it, you know. 4-AcO-DMT degrades in aqueous solution rather rapidly to psilocin and other oxidised dark compounds, so it'd really be best to store it dry. If you want to make a solution just make a water solution and freeze it - vodka won't stop hydrolysis, only the absence of water will.

The only danger from plugging alcohol is the burn.

ahh, I didn't stop to think about the water in the vodka. Thanks for pointing that out.

The problem with storing it dry for me is that I will be using only very small amounts, so the safest way is to use liquid measurement because my scale isn't super accurate (and reading the scales thread even the pricier scales seem to have problems at such small amounts). we are going to tritate from a couple mg up to probably 10mg max--we're lightweights-- we don't have very frequent opportunities to experiment that's why we need long term storage..

I guess the only solution would be to measure 50mg or so, mix with 50ml water, then plug a couple ml, and throw the rest away. Unless someone has a better idea!

Yeah, don't throw it away! Freeze it and when you next decide to take some have a look at it. If it still just looks like ice, or slightly yellow ice, it should be fine to use again.

Just do what you do with phenethylamines. I would imagine storing compounds on ice is better for them than storing them "wet" in water.

Either way, a prep'd batch of 4-AcO should stay good for a month or two.

ok, I was worried that if it was in water it would start degrading into a 4-HO rather quickly, but perhaps freezing would slow that process enough for me to get through a prepped batch.

thanks!

4-HO-DMT (psilocin) is still active and still a psychedelic, so degrading of 4-AcO is really a non-issue until it degrades first to psilocin and then starts to do what most 4-HO tryptamines do - oxidise and go blue-black. This all hsppens much much faster in solution than it does when the compounds are dry. Dry 4-AcODMT should not degrade if it's not exposed to adverse conditions.

Mold is unlikely to grow on pure alkaloids so that's not a concern. The big issue here is that 4-AcO-DMT + water = acetic acid + 4-HO-DMT.

For the laymen I will say this -
Store your 4-AcoDMT out of the reach of moisture, heat, and bright light. It should be reasonably expected to stay potent for 5+ years if these conditions are met.
