Plugging Methadone

I just started at a new clinic here in hawaii and they give out the 40mg wafers of methadone dissolved in a little bit of water...

I was wondering... is it ok to plug these and if so is there any benefit to doing so i.e. faster onset or greater bioavailability?
 
im just curious, why would this give you a greater chance of od than orall or nasal?
 
I doubt you would O.D. if you plugged your regular methadone dose. I don't think methadone works any better by plugging it. Methadone I believe has a very good oral B.A. I have plugged small amounts like 50 units but I didn't feel much different than taking it orally. My tolerance is higher though, than 50 units of this methadone I get. I buy it from the street so Idk how strong my meth is. I just take enough to feel ok. Wich is about 200 units. I just fill up a needleless 50 unit syringe 4x, squirt in my mouth and that holds me through the day. I wake feeling like shit every morning but I'm tapering so that is expected.
 
Second thought, it doesn't even matter, like the guy above me said.
It diffuses in tissue so fast that it will all be the same. No rush or anything.

You're right about the good oral bioavailability of methadone. But this:

worries me a bit. I hope you know the amount of methadone you're taking.
 
I'm very experienced opiate user. I have a high tolerance. I know it's not smart. Actually I kind of know how much is in it. I can kind of guess how strong it is by how dark it is. I take a little bit and wait a while and if I still don't feel ok I take it a little bit more. When I say the "street" I mean from a preson who goes to the clinic. they usually tell me how much is in it, but this last time they gave me more than usuall and told me to taste it to see how stong it was. I'm not an idiot. Thanks for your concerns anyway.
 
First, no one said you were an idiot.(Throw that thought in the nearest trash can.)
Second, no matter how experienced anyone is, tasting it will not give you a strength.
 
I know that, but what else can I do. It's not like I have machine that will tell me how much is in it. Plus I'm just using it to detox not to get high. I have been on methadone at the clinic three times, so I'm not a methadone noob.
 
True, but you are you.
So, do what you do.
If it works, go for it, but never be shocked if you run into a jam from too much "Getting down with the get down."
 
Methadone actually absorbs less efficiently through rectal administration than oral.
 
so theres 14 replies and only 1 was even relavant to the topic of this thread...can someone actually confirm that the bioavailability is lower for rectal than oral amin??

And yes Jay, of course you can OD this way...you can OD lots of ways, but that is the risk we all take when doing drugs. Some of us (the dumb/suicidal ones) will OD, and others (the ones that do their research) will be able to experiment till there heart is content and walk away just fine from it.

I didn't say that you can't O.D. any other way, so I see no reason, for all those half ass remarks that acouple of people were making.

I could find no exact number of %, but it says that it is quite high in absorption.
It also states a quicker absorption.
 
^That study does give the percentages. It gives an average of 76% for rectal and 86% for oral.
