Make it quik n painless tho..
Seriously, I have been suffering from chronic muscle related headaches for the past 2 weeks. Feels like someones jabbing a hot poker stick into the back right side of my neck. No matter whut I do I cant seem to kik it. This is gitting to be RATHER annoying.
So I finally decided to go to my beloved doctor with my sob story. Ended up being written three scripts. One for imitrex nasal spray *BLAH*, one for firocet with codine *YUMMIES*, and one for prozac? HuH? WTF? Prozac for headaches? Am I missing something here? I thought prozac was scripted for people with depression and or OCD. Will someone please try n explain this to me? Im atta loss..
To be honest I'm kinda wary taking prozac, for, i've heard HORROR stories as to how this drug reacts with mdma. I consider myself to be an *occasional* roller. Maybe once every two to three months kinda thing. What if I decided to roll couple of months down the road having prozac in my system at the same time? Is this dangerous?
Would I die? I may be way off in my assumptions, so im asking ANYONE to please correct me if im wrong.
I'm at the point right now where i'll do ANYTHING to kik these fuggin headaches. I'll be willing to give this prozac a try, but im still quite confused as to why it was perscribed. Anyone have ne ideas? Responses would be much appreciated. :)
Just thought of something. This may belong in the health forum? I dont know. Please feel free to move if yoo feel i'll git better info elsewhere. THANKIES!

Ask your doctor why he decided to give you prozac, you have every right to know (just don't mention the X use).
As far as I know, mixing fluoxetine (proozac) and MDMA will not kill you, you just will NOT be able to roll.
Fairnymph has a very informative thread on this. It's on Health Q & A forum and it's called "Antidepressants and recreational drugs"
Check it out!

No, prozac and MDMA together will not kill you, and is relatively safe. However, as CF pointed out, you will not roll. Prozac blocks the effects of MDMA.
As for why your doc gave your a prozac script, well, it sounds like he/she thinks you are depressed...POSSIBLY he/she prescribed it for pain/headaches (this has been done before), but that is a fairly rare use of prozac. I would talk to your doc and explain that you don't feel depressed and you don't feel like taking a strong drug like prozac and messing around unecessarily with your brain chemistry.

Don't ever be afraid to ask/question your doc about what he/she perscribes you, it is your right. Also, if the meds don't work, feel free to call and tell them you need something else, you are paying them for a service.

that shouldn't be a prob. even if u do mention it too the doc.
i'm not sure about where you are, but here in the great white north the docs CANNOT tell anyone anything about you without your expressed consent.
the only exception to the rule would be in the case of a crime.
but fawk, if my doc can't tell my own PARENTS what i admitted to using, then this guy might as well tell him about the occasional E.
just to be on the safe side incase of any future meds + E turn out to be a bad combo.

*ahem* That HE is actually a SHE 100% *grins*
Telling my doc bout my occasional rolling is outa the question. I am aware of tha fact anything I say to her *cept for homicidal/sucidal tendencies*
would have to be kept hush. BUT right now, to be honest, I am gitting some fairly decent scripts for her and I dont wanna say ne thing that may screw this blessing up. I am fairly certain that if I was to tell my doc that I use *occasionaly* that she would automatically label me asa addict. Which could very well lead her to BANNING me from ALL narcotic/potentially addictive meds. I do NOT want this to happen.
Next *fairnymph*...
THANX SO much for the insight bout the combo. I git the feeling that yoo have replied to the same question before. THANX for taking the time to reply again. :)
Next *groovee*
I have been through SO many scripts to try n help my headache its almost sickening. I was told by several different doctors that its kinda a hit or miss thing as far as headaches go. I recently complained that straight fiorinal wasnt doing shit
and ended up gitting perscribed fiorocet w/codine.
Which I must add seems to be working so far. So hopefully I have found the right med for now to help manage the pain.
Question: Anyone in here on prozac? I would be interested in hearing any personal testimonials about the drug. Feel free to reply..
NE hoo, thanx for the responses. MUCH appreciated!

One more thing..
Sure this doesnt belong in health? Was juss thinkin that I maybe able to git additional info in that forum. Maybe not, iunno'. TOODLES**

The only thing I can add to this thread is NEVER admit recreational drug use to your MD! It will go in your file and it will affect what scripts they write for you in the future esp with pain meds.

Since this thread hasn't been moved to health...
I know it sounds a bit simple, but have you tried adding anti-inflammatories to your meds? When I get chronic bad headaches from muscle tension (particularly after a speed binge), often escalating to migraines, the ONLY combo that works for me is:
Ibuprofen (1600mg) + Codeine (about 30mg) + a good sedative (like some doxylamine succinate, maybe 20mg) and THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - a hot shower and a good massage to set it all off. Without the massage it doesn't work, and without the ibuprofen it only makes a small dent in the pain.

HA if you take mdma then dont worry about brain chemistry. go ahead and try the prozac, take it 3 weeks. We had a patient once with headaches, he described them EXCATLY like you did "hot poker in the back"
this was a 300 pound country bumpkin too... we started with the imitrex.... he was telling us even his percocets dont work. Even after a fair dose( i cannot remember the dose) of demoral he was still laying down moaning. all his scans came up normal, blood tests were fine.
we ended up sending him to a pain specialist.
I guess the point of this is that the narcotics arent going to get rid of it if its that bad.
Have you had an MRI?

**BOG**
Thanx for responding~! No I have not hadda MRI as of *yet* its actually in tha working. I too have hadda visit the ER to gitta shot of demerol to help ease tha pain n although it made me loopy as hell, it did nothing to help ease the pain.
I have been told several things by several different doctors. I've been told that my headaches are possibly stress related and that visiting a masseuse and ora chiropractor would be beneficial. I have also ben told that my headaches
may be linked TMJ. Which I just so happen to have.
So bad sometimes that my jaw muscles will git so tight that i'll bite down on the insides of my cheeks. This makes sense to me tho. Both the muscles in the jaw and in the neck *which is where my headaches seem to be at* are in the same general area. So I called my beloved dentist the other day and made an appt. to adress my TMJ. If ne one else in here experience almost debilitating
headaches due to TMJ please speak up.
One again thankies for the responses everyone!~*~TOODLES~*~
**Still wonders why this hasn't been and IF this is ever going to be moved to *Health* forum. :)

Yep. For me speed binge(s) = lots of muscle tension, especially in jaw = TMJ.
Seriously, skip the dentist, save some money and go to a natural therapist specialising in re-setting the jaw, and overall relaxation massage. And by the way, I'm not a hippie and I don't even smoke weed. IT JUST WORKS!

In certain cases patients who have repeat episodes of an unknown origin get marginalized into the "headcase" population.
In your case you say that they are muscle related. If you are in spasm you should be put on muscle relaxers and given Physical Therapy or Physio Therapy in Canada. A burning, searing pain sounds less like a muscle and more of a nerve root or disc problem. Did you self diagnos the muscle realted headaches or did the doctor?
But from the the meds he's given you the only thing that would be effective for muscle pain would be the pain killers which you said did nothing for the pain.
You said you got Demerol and it still did nothing for the pain. In that case you can probobly rule out disc, nerve root, muscle spasm and probobly any other musculoskelatal problem out there unless your pain was so intense that the dose of Demerol didn't even touch it, which probobly isn't the case. As far as Migrains go I don't usually see patients with them localized in one spot in their neck. I couldn't rule them out though.
I know of people recieving amitryptaline (Elavil), which is an antidepressant, as a substitute for muscle relaxors, but I have never heard of someone being prescribed prozac for muscle spasm unless its a new development. The imitrex doesn't touch it either so also leads away from migrains.
So it leads me to believe that your doctor may think that your problems are psychological and he/she prescribed the prozac to balence your mood and hopefully it will affect the percieved or conjured pain.
I'm not saying you're faking it, but some doctors are over-reluctant to put people on anti-d's when other things don't work.
What you should do is get an MRI To rule out neuro and musculoskeltal problems. After that see what happens and get a massage like Brisgirl said.
Good luck give updates.
