I know that meth use is not sustainable and i believe i'm becoming out of control so i will share with you..
A: history of meth use, B: Life style, C: Damage I think I've done...

and then please share with me your thoughts on what I shared with you based uponyour experience. Tell me how screwed up I am if you feel the need to and the path of destruction I'm setting myself up for if I keep following this road. Thanks a lot for participating. Nobody knows this secret life I live!

A: history of meth use:
I've been using consistently for the last 6 months.
I average 5-6 days of smoking (each week)
I only took 2 week breaks twice over the last 6 months
I average smoking 1.5 to 2 grams per month.
I am consistent in my usage and never tempted to add more.

B: Life Style
I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day (meth mouth paranoia)
I work out 2-3 times a week (gym, box, surf)
I have protein shakes and eat 2-3 times a day (good nutrition)
I take lots of vitamins 3 times a day.
I'm getting sleep every night
I shower everyday, wash my face and maintain good hygiene

C: Damage I think I've done
I think one tooth is losing enamel at bottom (or paranoid)
I think my cardiovascular health is effected, endurance worse as I have shorter breaths.
I feel like my throat and lungs are crystallized from holding vapors in to long.
I have 'pimples on steroids' (seems like boils/staph infection) on chest and back. Not to bad on face.
I've lost muscle (not Lifting heavy like I used too)

Well there you have it! I have opened up and shared with all of you what I've been dying to talk to someone about. I am not going to make excuses on why I need/want to use it, but what i would appreciate is some feedback based upon what I shared with you. Maybe you can talk about the damage I've caused to myself taking my lifestyle into consideration. Also, I think I need a good scare if I were to keep using (1.5 to 2 grams) per month. All I ask is, please give me feedback on the path of destruction I am setting myself up for by the amount i use with my frequency as stated above. I would never let myself go overboard although what I'm doing now is not any better either.

Well I don't think anyone can scare you away from meth. If you've researched it, know what it can do to people, or have seen it take over someone then you should of already been scared away from it. No matter what people post here about it you'll still do it if you want.

I must admit your doing better than most meth users after 6 months of consistent use lol. You've already noticed losing muscle, getting tired easily, and although it's not phsyical damage, you have the paranoia. With how often you use it is very unlikely you will keep up a good healthy life style. One day you may start brushing once a day, then once every few days, work out once a week or so, not shower often, ect. The longer you use, the more risk you put yourself at of getting more out of control even if it is slowly for you.

And you may think you won't let yourself go overboard, but the truth is no one is invulnerable to going too far. Me as well as many people here have thought that. You may not go overboard but definatley don't rule it out. Your not nessesarily too deep yet. I don't know alot about meth dosages but 1.5-2 grams a month doesn't seem like a huge amount but i could be wrong. I do know though if you think your losing control and can't get yourself to start taking more breaks and smoke less often then you should take more extreme meassures like look for help or make sure you can't go out and buy meth somehow before you lose all control.

Ha sorry for the long response hope everything works out for you. You havn't done real serious damage but you may be headed to far worse. good luck :)

It would be nice to read up on genuine research of this drug. It seems as if the media over hypes it and makes it way worse then it is. I mean, nobody talks about the Wall Street broker's coke habbit and refers to the people at the very bottom when it comes to meth. Obviously, I understand this drug could be the devil but for those who have or still use, do you think a lot of the media over hypes it? Would love to see some links that are more balanced.

I'm inclined to side with you on this issue, I believe the main reason meth gets the bad rap it does is most likely due to its ability to be easily produced clandestinely and illegally.

I do think the media over hypes it... I have done Meth, I am just not a fan of it. I have panic disorder now so I'd never touch it again, but I'd never touch it again even if I didn't get panic attacks.. It's just not my *thing*. I always preferred coke but now my DOC is Oxymorphone and I prefer Opiates.

Also yea, you never do hear about the Wall Street brokers coke habits or even celebrities for that matter. It's more common than most people think. Even the bored housewife you'd never expect might have a coke or meth habit... nobody ever hears about it unless they get busted. I know tons of bored housewives you'd never expect with coke or heroin habits, some even both. People never fail to suprise me.

I think some of the larger issues with meth is it's production. I would hate to live near a meth lab and have my family in danger. I have seen people use it long term and they didn't end up all fucked up looking. No meth mouth, scars from picking at skin ect. I am not a fan of meth but I do think it's over hyped by the media... the media always pisses me off though because often times they do more damage than good with misinformation and the twist they put on things to benefit themselves.

Here's something that might scare you. I lost 21 lbs. in a three day span when going through withdrawal. Went to the doctor 2.5 days after quitting cause I was feeling kind of sick, they found nothing, and next day woke up in full withdrawal. Weighed in at 181 at the doctor's office and when my withdrawals finally ended I weighed in at 160.

I don't think seeing photos of fucked up people is going to change much for you if you're already on it. Just look at yourself in a mirror, and compare it to a photo of yourself from a few years ago. Is this where you imagined you'd be right now? What about when you were younger, as a teenager, is this the life you imagined? Or, how do you see yourself in future? One of the worst fates a man can suffer is living a life that you regret. In 5 years, 20 years, are you going to look back at what you're doing now and be proud of it, or are you going to think 'i wish I had done something different, I wish I had invested my time in something else'. The only thing worse than a pointless death is a pointless life.

Some good responses here. Ultimately we can't make your mind up for you - you have to want to quit yourself..

it sounds like you are already very aware of the problems with meth use. The best advice I can give is to be honest with yourself - is your use having a detrimental effect on your life? Do you carry in despite being aware of this? Do you need meth?

Take a look at the methamphetamine thread in The Dark Side forum too..

If you are worried about your physical health, it might be worth getting yourself checked over by a doctor..

If you decide it is a problem and you want to quit, The Dark Side forum is a great place to get help and support. Good luck!

Are you taking Steroids for body building as well ?? or am I miss reading what your saying in your post.

Either way simple answer....Meth is bad...its never going to be a good idea to be taking it the, the longer you take it the worse the side effects will become and almost inevitably your habit will get bigger.

Hi brian10981,

I hope we have helped you here <3

After some thought, I am going to move this to The Dark Side forum, as this kind of in depth discussion about drug dependency/abuse isnt really the sort of topic we cover here in BDD - we are more of a quick q&a forum.

You've been given a lot of good advice here :) I also recommend having a general browse of Basic Drug Discussion, Other Drugs and The Dark Side to get a feel for how methamphetamine has affected others. Also, please don't hesitate to see a doctor if you are concerned about your physical health, or a dentist if you are concerned about your teeth.

If you do want to quit, take a look at the "addicted and need help?" thread in OD as well as the methamphetamine addiction thread here in TDS.

If you do decide to quit, you may well want to get some professioanl help to support and assist you. Look after yourself physically - eat well, drink lots of fluids, exercise. Try to find something to do that replaces methamphetmine.. easier said than done I know! Also, talk to people - friends or family, anyone you can lean on for support.. failing that, you can always talk to someone on here (especially in The Dark Side) ir a counsellor. Talking things through really does help a lot <3

With all of that in mind, I am going to with you very best luck and move this.I hope that is okay with you - it would have had to have been closed in BDD so I thought TDS was the best place!

TDS mods, I hope that is okay!

lol...The lighting makes it difficult to discern, but it almost looks as if the eye color is different in each picture. But ya...don't do meth, that's all we can really tell you. I got so spun once I thought my best friend was an undercover agent. That's about all I can do to scare you lol.

Do you want to continue despite the consequences you feel it has? It is totally overhyped by the media in my experience; but I think that will always be the case with one substance or another. It still is a strong drug and can cause problems for many. Smoking it can probably also cause additional issues on top the drug itself. You can try taking a break or reducing/stopping for a while and see how you if you start again. Or even try using it orally and see if that helps with any of the side-effects.

Here's the way this is going to play out: you will run out of money at the same time you are deepest into your meth addiction. How long do yo think it will take before you can't spare a couple bucs for toothpaste and your gym membership is expired? How long after that before you don't have enough money to do anything BUT make plans to cop more meth?

If you don't think thing can get fucked up, then you're insulated from reality right now by either someone paying your way or maybe you have a great job that you're very successful at right now (thanks to meth). I know it doesn't look like these basic pillars of your life could collapse in less than two weeks, but they tend to do so that quickly once you cross into the frequent psychosis and total illusion phase of meth use.

maybe the agonizing and painful palpatations of your exploding heart will scare you.
i came too close to overdose twice and I still break down in tears and tremble just thinking about that 4-day heart attack and not being able to go to the hospital about it.
dont thnk abuse and management will always mix...

Very good advice.

Thats a decision you have to make. And if you dont spiral down into that dark hole and use 24 fucking 7 then really all you have to do is take care of yourself. When doing meth you have to make sure you eat, make sure your sleep, make sure you drink. personal hygine is usually not a problem - imo taking showers rocks when your tweakin. Mainly, just make sure you do those three things and you should be able to maintain that for a while healthily. Take 5-htp every day along with vitamines and 500 mg of magnesium to keep your tolerance down if you havent been using that long. pretty much seems like youve got it covered. your better off then alot of people.

As for being "scared" out of use, like i said only you can make that decision. youll reach a point in your use where you either stop using and change or accept the fact that youllbe a drug addict for most likely the rest of your life. Ask yourself why your using, whats more important, your accomplishments or your enjoyment, and go read how long time use can effect you via BLers posts and conversations on the dark side. thats about all i can tell you.
