nowadays it seems to predominately tied in with an addict or heavy drug user, usually opiates, yeah. and on the extreme end an IV user is coined a junkie by everyday people even if they're just a chipper.
Yeah, it's bullshit. Over the years a couple of friends of mine have picked up IV'ing. Of course, they only do it occasionally(except ones who we're pillheads in the first place) andin fact they almost exclusively do it when I'm around, because I have clean needles and know how to do everything. Hell I still inject my best friend ~and~ roomate up when they occasionally wanna "walk the line" LOL.
But they have to hide the shit, else eveyone goes crazy, calls em junkies, say's I brought em down, some people even say they should consider rehab(before they become like me) and it's like, jesus fucking christ, they use opiates a couple of times A MONTH!!!
Not to mention, in the south, they just look at you crazy when you ask for syringes.(god bless w@!-g(&&^$!)
Interesting story about the origins of the term "junkie" though. To this day I still save everyone's beer cans and my own coke cans for an occasional buck!(I quit drinking long ago, but still drink lots of coke)
I think it is, resourceful, cuz ya can get 100$ with a few big ass bags of cans. But tha's just me...
