please husband with lumps on arms for shooting heroin.

Hi all, I need advice, my husband shoots up heroin, but he's been clean for the past week. But on his left arm grew an absess now it cleaned and no more draining but there is still a lump. Now on his right arm there's another lump it was getting smaller after 4 days of him not doing anything but now today he showed me his arm and it's red and he said it hurts alittle, what I wanna know is could that be an absess that inside the skin?
 
You really need to take him to a doctor to get it checked out. Yes it could be an abcess, and it could need treatment. If left untreated it could get a whole lot worse.

those fucking hurt, yeah if looks like a half of a baseball size bump go to ER. You dont want ur man 2 end up like Harry in Requiem for a dream.
 
If he displays sign of infection (fever, pus, heat generating wound), he will need antibiotics ASAP.

If it does not get bigger and does not appear to be infected, you may be able to treat it with ichthammol (ammonium bituminosulfonate) and topical antibiotics (both available OTC at your pharmacy).

It sounds like he needs buprenorphine or methadone; if he's only been clean a week, its likely he won't stay clean (although its entirely possible, just not likely). It would be better if he switched to buprenorphine and slowly taper off; his chance of success will be greater. Good luck...
