I want to stop taking opioids....I take 80mg Oxys a day plus hydrocodones 20mg daily and 10-15mg roxies a day. I have cut back alot I am just worried about the w/d. I CANT take off work so thats my main reason I havent tried to stop yet. My doctor gives me meds for my blood pressure and I have SEVERE anxiety and depression and this addiction to pain pills has totally sent me into a downward spiral into depression and Im at the point that I dont even leave my room unless I HAVE to. I dont even know where to start to stop. I welcome all advice. Ive never been addicted to anything and have always been able to walk away from anything. My doc doesnt know and I cant tell him. I do have chronic pain ( I have RA) and extremly high blood pressure plus bi-polar/boderline personality disorder (?) The meds I am on now or suppose to be on but dont take Kolonodine (sp?) xanax (4mg per day), 60mg cymbalta, 40mg benicar(blood pressure) the only thing I take is the xanax and cymbalta. I am 40 and a Grandma to an almost 6 month old baby girl and I dont want to be like this. I have been taking the oxy's and roxies for about 2 yrs now. I dont know what else anyone may need to know to help but I am willing to answer anything. Also I can get my doc to give me the gabapen....however its spelled and lyrica. I saw on another post that those help w/ withdrawl. Also what kind of pain/symptoms am I goin to have withdrawing?
Sorry about my spelling and punctuation....
Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help!

You take 80mg of oxycodone, 20mg of hydrocodone, and 150mg of oxycodone IR daily? If so, you will definitely have to take off work for a few days to quit.

This thread should help you out a good bit.

Quitting opiates definitely isn't a walk in the park by no means, but if you are determined to quit, you can.

the 80mg oxy is time-release..yes?

have you used the search engine?
there are several threads on withdrawal that could help you a great deal.

you need to start taking your bp medicine asap.
w/d causes bp issues in otherwise heart-healthy ppl.

I have cut back to taking about 20mg oxy, 1-2 lortab 10's and I dont take the roxies everyday...only when they are there. I ment to put that on my first post...what I had put was what I had been taking before cutting back. Thank you guys for the advice and I will start my BP meds and Thanks for the link and about searching for the threads. I really appreciate it!! Oh and tokenname yes they are time release...but I only break maybe a quarter off and take it in the morning and again a lil more in the afternoon. I can make 1 pill last 2 days now. I have mood swings and when I dont take them I am a raging bitch and I know it and cant control it. I get in a horrid mood and am very agro for no reason. Thts when I have to take half of one of my xanbars...it does help.
Thanks again!!!

if i were you i'd begin taking my bp med first before i cut back anymore..
ensure it works for you correctly..
then i'd cut out all oxy straight away..
while beginning w/either the lyrica or gabapentin...
tapering down with w/e you choose^^ and the lortab.
you've already done alot of work.
i'd also suggest starting counseling asap..if possible,
to help with the manic/anger issues..
talking can be of huge help during w/d as well..
so could be a win-win for you.
someone smarter may have some better ideas tho.
good luck to you :)

.
while beginning w/either the lyrica or gabapentin...

I second that. Gabapentin and Lyrica are really amazing in diminishing opioid withdrawl symptoms. A good thing is that you are prescribed "Clonidine" as well which should also be a great help but I have no experience with that.
Definitely get some Loperamide too. Your tapering will make the final wd less intense so keep reducing in little steps.
I wish you the best with your plan :)

well if you qquit, and legitimately have high blood pressure, you should start taking your blood pressure medicine, because during withdrawals your blood pressure will rise im sure, and also CLONIDINE is appearantly wonderful for withdrawals, i have never taken it for withdrawals, but i have taken it(got sold some them as xanax) and i can see why others would think it helps, when going cold turkey, it'll help you sleep and help slightly with muscle aches and help blood pressure

Yeah Gabapentin helps a bunch, did you say you we're prescribed the Oxycontin, Lortab, and Roxicodone? and xanax? you must be in florida cause that sounds like the normal around here.

I would stop taking the Roxi's and lortabs, use the Oxy 80's to slowly taper and use the xanax at night or when you have really bad anxiety cause anxiety is common with coming off opiates. you have a handful of options, it just really comes down to how bad you want to get off this stuff.

Xanax will help alot. Loperamide (think thats how its spelled) which is in immodium works wonders and will help alot with diarhea. Some people swear by kratom. But Kicking is a bitch one way or another. Id be sure to stretch my legs alot as I find the leg cramps the worst. Muscle relaxers would not hurt. If you could get your hands on some suboxone that may help. I dont even take a whole one and I wait two days (as in when im in full wd to take a lil bit). That seems to give me a break to rehydrate. Cold medicine with dxm and tylenol help too. Id also smoke a lil bit of pot if you can get some. You will definetly need some time off work. Tell them you have the flu, cuz thats basically how long it shall last and it will be similar but worse most likely. Fluids like gatorade and water are essential as well and I think its nice to have quality toilet paper because you may have the runs. Good luck.
