I have some 2c-i and want to verify that it is indeed 2c-i. I noticed that the marquis reagent will turn yellow with 2c-b. Will this reaction do the same with 2c-i.

What is the best way to accurately measure out a dose. I was thinking of putting it in 250ml of Normal saline sterile bag. Will it dissolve well? I will then have 2mg/ml, I feel that this is a safe enough concentration to accurately draw from the bag and dose accurately.
Thank you.

I believe I found my answers. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
2ci will turn green to black with Marquis
The saline should be fine.
Yes???

2C-I will turn yellow --v.quickly--> green --over-a-few-minutes--> very dark almost black, then fade over the next 20-40 minutes to a lighter color.

Saline will work, but it'd be at the bottom of my choices. I'd use 50:50 vodka and water, to preclude bacterial growth during storage (that has been an issue for me with 2C-E and 2C-C, but not 2C-I for some reason - though since i got an 0.1mg scale i stopped making solutions)

Very interesting. Iodine prevents the growth of bacteria and even kills it......I wonder if 2C-I's iodine molecule is strong enough to do that.

^the iodine doesn't leave the ring
the cation isn't very stable even though iodine is usually a good leaving group

IIRC, 2c-i is excreted almost entirely unaltered

Just received my mg scale today so I plan on having my first dose of 2c-e tomorrow.

I have a question though. this powder is so fine and small I'm scared that I'll somehow waste some of it putting it on my scale. Is there any tool or Spoon of some sort you guys use when handelin this chems or do you just dump it on the scale)

use the smallest stainless steel knife you have in the house, or find someone who can get your a lab spatula.

look up the big and dandy scale thread, and search around for proper laboratory balance technique. getting accurate results is highly dependent on your skill in operating the device.

do not drink any caffeine before weighing out compounds, and be sure your scale is on a level, nonmoving surface. close all windows and turn off all fans, and maybe put on a dust mask to prevent any small breezes or sneezes from dusting your room with potent chemicals.

Weigh the gelcap you are using or the piece of tissue paper you are using to make a parachute. Note the weight. Cut the end of a straw diagonally to make a scoop. Scoop out the desired amount of 2C-X and add it to the gel cap or tissue paper until the weight of the gel cap/tissue paper with the 2C-X is the weight of the gel cap/tissue paper plus the desired dose. No loss, no fuss.

Good point. It erks me when people talk about the halogen being cleaved from the benzene ring in phenethylamines.

Halogens are only good leaving groups when they are attached to sp3 hybridized carbons (ie, in alkanes). Because of the conjugation in the benzene ring, the halogen in 2C-I is connected to an sp2 hybridized carbon thus cleavage of the iodine is not energetically favorable and doesn't occur.
