Benzos Please help: social anxiety & Valium/Diazepam for job interview

Hi,

First post and really need help answering this question: if someone has been prescribed Valium for two job interviews how should one go about taking it?

24mg in the form of 2mg tablets. Tested an additional 4mg and effects minimal. Suffer from severe anxiety made a lot worse when speaking publicly.

For the first interview the duration needs to last 3 hrs.
For the second interview 2 hours should suffice.

Will have memorised answers etc. but need to be able to seem confident and natural.

Please advise as am having sleepless nights! Any help much appreciated!

Hey, welcome to Bluelight.

If 4mg of Diazepam didn't affect you sufficent I suggest taking 6mg about one hour before the interview or (imo better) before going to sleep the night before.
Valium has a very long half-life and will still be in your system and active the next day. Also you don't risk to seem somewhat too calm or lethargic during the interview that way.
The last aspect is typical for Benzos and under the influence most people don't recognize how slow they talk etc. so keep your dose as low as possible and keep that in mind.

Is this your first experience with Benzodiazepines? Do you take any other drugs or medication?

Thanks a lot. No other medications. Have taken .5 mg Clonazepam before and it seemed more effective.

I feel when I tried the 4mg I had almost a negative placebo type reaction. I thought it wasn't going to be v effective and so it wasn't v effective.

Will try try 8mg a few hrs before and see how I go on the day. Judging from equivalence charts .5mg Clonazepam = 10mg Valium.

Less worried about talking slowly than not being able to utter a clear sentence...

hey dude.....im also struggling with this issue. except im taking daily. I take 10mg a day but in 2.5mg x 4 a day. problem is, I don't really feel like anything until maybe im on full 10mg at end of day, then its just more relaxed. My dr is awesome really helpful. but I just don't know what I was excepting from vallium. I think I was expecting this alcohol type of effect of confidence and getting up on morning and having birds tweeting and singing out the window because of no anxiety, lol......but it kinda just relaxes me at the end of a day and its not SOOOO significant....I would rather have it then not tho I guess. The thing is........I don't know if im taking it wrong tho or naturally need abit of a higher dose? even tho im only 2 weeks into it? but I don't want to get to that point of eating more then I get prescribed, and then having to wait out days before getting more.

u shud try the 8mg before and test yaself out with a chilled out evening before doing it on the day.....and let me know how that makes you feel?

Yeah will let everyone know how it goes.

I think it can be quite subtle at first but it is definitely supposed to relieve anxiety (thinking about it I did end up calling a few people and getting some social stuff done which I would've avoided at all costs).

Alcohol always allows me to be very very social. Valium I think just allows you to be your normal self without any anxiety. The effect also lasts a fair while.

Also you mentioned alcohol and Valium combination in another thread I was reading. One of the problems with that is that it's v easy to forget how much Valium (or any benzo) you've taken after mixing even one drink. I know at least three 'sensible' ppl who've made complete fools of themselves and only slightly remembered what exactly happened. It wasn't pretty. So IMHO if you're planning to go out and drink in the evening make sure you've not taken anything more recently than 2.5mg in the morning.

I tell you last 2 nights ive gt a 6 pack of Non-alcoholic beer and its quite weird how therapeutic it is. tastes just the same and with the diazepam having that slight relaxant effect its kinda like feeling of having a few beers, lol.

Im still confused why anyone would abuse benzos myself tho, as surely you just fall asleep? im one of them guys who always feels like hes missing out on something and would also like to have that 'buzz' with benzos that acohol gives. Like you know what ur doing ........but u normally wouldn't do it sober.....kinda that 'fuck tha world' attitude and stuff. any ideas?
