I really need some advice and some words of encouragement from the wise folks here, I'm starting to lose hope, and that's the last thing that I need right now. I've been addicted to oxycodone for about 3 years now. Habit started low, and I'm at my worst now, insufflating about 80-120 mg a day. I need to stop this for good, put this behind me, and become myself again, who I truly am. I know it's going to be so tough. I just love everything about life when I'm on the drug. I like people more, and I like myself more. I'm more efficient, more confident, and happier. I know however that continuing my drug use will only lead to an unfortunate ending, and I'm at a crossroads now where I can see myself spiraling out of control if I don't STOP. I refuse to do rehab, I know I can do this myself. I currently have 2 2mg strips of suboxone, and my plan for them is to take it for 4-5 days (In small doses, obviously), just to get through the acute withdrawal stage, and then take it completely on myself to battle it out until I'm back to who I need to be. I plan to also utilize loperamide (Imodium), which has been said to help tremendously as well. If you guys could comment on my plan, and maybe add some tips or suggestions on how to battle this out, I'd be tremendously grateful. Thanks

Hey the kid=D.. congratulations on making the decision to detox.. I came off a big habit last august.. .5g tarpd, 150mg methadone pd, 260 mgpd roxy, 8mg xanax... i'm not on anything now and feel great.. you can do this.. do you have any sort of a support network setup? After watching allot of people take the plunge and better their lives buy detoxing the opiates I would strongly suggest not taking the Imodium, it will make the symptoms better and that why people then become addicted to this.. it really just prolongs or prevents any detox at all and people become dependent on the lopi.. you can do this we can help.. I would go to a doctor and tell them your plan and ask about clonidine.. it really is a good send for so many people that detox, also explore any medications that they can give you for restless leg syndrome.. this is almost everybody's worst symptom... also take the time to familiarize yourself with Post Acute Withdrawl Syndrome as this will hit you really quick after the acute withdrawal symptom miracle happens.. If i did it;) so can you!! Lots of people here at BL that have been where you are and know how to get where you are going.. it doesn't take that long, what you are going to feel gets better really quick:).. you can do this!!

Thanks for you reply neversick. I appreciate the advice. The one thing I'd say about your comment is that I fear that I won't have enough time to set up a dr. appointment and see him. I plan on starting my detox tomorrow, and it usually takes a week or more before I'd be able to schedule an appointment. But seeing a doctor is certainly something that I have been strongly considering doing. What about the 4mg of suboxone that I have? Would you recommend taking that the first couple of days to maybe avoid those awful acute symptoms?

can you get into a walk in clinic.. the clonidine should not be that hard to get.. and you will thank your lucky stars you got it.. you can try the subs.. remember that you have to be in pretty hard withdrawl to begin to take them as the are only a partial opiate antagonist but have a crazy strong affinity for the opiat receptors.. soy they will knock the oxy rite off and then only partially antagonize the receptor that is used to the full effect of the oxy.. if you take it to soon you will go straight to pretty hard withdrawal.. IMO i would use the subs to by you time to get into the dr about the clonidine, RLS drug, and possibly something to calm you down if they will do it. You will be so glad you did.. have you detoxed before?

I've detoxed a few times. Earlier this year I went about 20 days clean, but then relapsed. At that point in time, my habit was much less benign than what it is now thought. Would they give out drugs you mentioned like clonidine at a walk-in clinic?

yes they should with the clonidine.. >here<

IDK about the RLS drugs but i have heard good things about them.. wish i would have known about the RLS drugs.. >here<

If you want to stay clean once you get through you will have to come up with a recovery plan for once you get clean to deal with the PAWS.. You can do this.. you will need to find a good support network<3.. it really pretty key. keep us informed<3.. try and see a doctor tomorrow;)

I would suggest letting go of the 'I can do this myself' mindset and getting as much help as you can, whether you want to go to rehab or not. Getting clean is the easy bit, you will need some kind of support network in place if you want to have a good chance of staying clean.
