So my doctor’s been prescribing me oxycodone I’m at 10 mg a day 5×2 one in the morning one at night. I am now out before I see him and he said if I ran out that I should put on a Butrans patch but he prescribed me the 20 µg per hour patch which is .48 mg of or a day which if you do the MME equivalent it is much higher than what I would need. Realistically, I would need closer to 5 µg an hour I believe. He told me I could cut the patch in order to get less of a dose but when asking ChatGPT it said that that may increase the absorption rate or something like that so I have two questions one can I cut this patch that is 20 µg an hour into quarters and two. How long do I have to wait for my last oxy dose as I have ran out and will be going into withdrawal in the morning With withdrawing and it hurts like shit. My bones are aching, my nose is running and I’m yawning. Please advise as soon as possible as I don’t have much time to figure this out. I don’t meet with him for two days.

U talk probably about those patches that are attached to skin for a whole week?I have been used only those lasting for three days.. nevermind..I think U can cut the patch without much worries.Been on same situation-from oxy(targins) to bupe patches...not very wise in my opinion.I have been waiting 24 hours after last dose oxy....then applied the patch..even not felt the withdrawal from oxy yet properly.The patch was 50mcg per hour..dose of oxy was 60mg daily...that was a fairly big dose of bupe for this.After about 12 hours i felt ok..after 24 hours i felt very euphoric...strong stuff is this bupe
Ok interesting. Will keep that in mind. My doc said only needed to wait 8-12hours after my last dose so I’m confused getting different advice from different people. Same as the cutting situation saying that some may think it’s ok to cut the patch and some say definitely not.
So your saying that it only lasts for 3 days and 24 to get the full effect?

Yes this patches are made for three days only.matrix type...never seen those that are made for a week use..man..even those patches made for three days use are no longer available here...factories did not produce it anymore..so I had been cold turkey IMG then few years ago...I used to cut them apart many times..not fully sure of the exact mechanism of Ur patch,but I think that they are the matrix type like mine...with some sort of sustained release..Ur Doc is right-12 hours after the last dose of oxy is enough ttime to apply Ur patch..Full effect of 3 days patch is hitting U after 24 hours and last for three-even four days..no need to say that after this in patch remains a lot of bupe..calculate how much..not proper calculation but it's shows something-50 MCG per hour..U got 24 hours a day...bupe in 50mcg is 30mgs!....so if U want U can make a further extraction...but that means a lot bigger dose and u would get hard times to quitt...so just better stick it on Ur skin and discard after times expired...yes for me goin' cold turkey oxy is far better than cold turkeying bupe..be smart.wish u success.Be careful!
I’ve cold turkey 16mg Buprenorphine sublingual before along with 15mg of diazepam. It was hell for 2 months. Wearing diapers and such. I’m on a low dose right now but I just don’t wanna get into a bad situation so looking for better advice. My patches are Buprenorphine 20mcg per hour but they say for 7 days, also says generic for butrans patches on the packaging. Damn I only got 3 15mg blue morphine tablets I believe to help extended release which say ABG or ABC on one side dark blue and 15 on the other side. Small round tablets. Will that hold me over until I can either speak with the doc tomorrow and if so how much will I need? Thanks for the help fam
