Please describe the effects of ketamine?

A mate is offering me a taste of ketamine (Special K he calls it) either next weekend or the one after but, basically, cannot tell me how it will make me feel.

I have searched for a description of the benefits of using this drig...so can any BLer please tell me why I should try it? What is the feeling you get from it?

There's probably a mega-thread / FAQ over in the psychadelic drugs forum if you want specifics. Do you have any other experience with dissociatives or psychedelics? DXM, MXE or PCP? LSD, Shrooms, DMT? Effects of ketamine vary greatly depending on both dose and route of administration from analgesia to a drunk-like state of inebriation to a full out-of-body trip. Do you know how pure this gear is likely to be and whether you'll be snorting, taking via an IM shot etc?

Like Belarki said, it's so hard to say. And if you've never tried dissociatives before, probably impossible. How can you explain a feeling of which someone has no reference point? As Belarki also said, ketamine's effects are very different with different dosages. A low amount can be stimulating, but a high dose is anything but. That being said, I would never plan to take k in any other environment but a comfortable lounge room with a couch these days. It can cause nausea, so I've always made sure to have a plastic bag beside me though I've never actually chucked from it. You most probably wont be keen to do any walking. The best way to experience it is to snort your dose, then get to your couch straight away, as it kicks in fast. Then close your eyes and relax. I don't find it scary at all, like I often find psychs to be. The change in perception seems to feel to me, natural and normal, so I never get anxious. I always feel like a cool glass of water has been poured over my brain after a good dose of k.

It's a dissociative anesthetic as Belarki said. It will reduce or block signals to the conscious mind from other parts of the brain. It pretty much separates your mind from your body. I don't know how much you know about the k-hole. Ketamine is a very short lasting drug, depending on your ROA, injection or insufflation lasts around an hour and orally about 2. You could easily try DXM before Ketamine if you wanted.

For what it's worth, it's a hell of a drug, very fun, and even if you don't enjoy it, you'll be back to reality within 2 hours or so. Even those like myself who don't particularly care for psychadelics seem to love K.

is that the sort of visual you get when you use it? a spiral thingo, "k hole"

I tried MXE on weekend, bout 30mg orally all i felt was really sedated drunk, overly fucked up, that was about it and I heard MXE is quite similar to K.

I once had these "mdma" caps, certainly weren't they gave me a really fucked up feeling, sort of like a sprialling was about only visual and just felt WERID. I thought it might of been some random 2c-x kind but I've used 2c and never had those kind of effects so maybe they were K caps, full to top of yellowish powder all cluggy wrongo taste.

I've never experienced anything like that visual. A lot of times though things seem to take on different properties than usual, whether that is different size or something else. Your 30mg oral mxe dose sounds like a very low threshold k/mxe experience, as in very low doses it dose feel like just a much more impaired drunk feeling.

Yeah 30mg of MXE would give you a rough idea of what a lower dose K experience would be like. They're fairly similar, though different in a lot of small ways too.

I liken a moderate dose of K to be like a one hour long nitrous bulb (which will only make sense if you've done nitrous). Its very strange but on some weird level its fun too. But then again i've never had a k-hole dose, so i'm only telling part of the story. Good luck!
