Please ban my account

^ I don't think I'm missing the point of voluntary work, but part of our moderation responsibilities does not include manually deleting hundreds of posts for users, which is why Tommyboy quoted the BLUA and the GL's guide, and no, you won't see any solution by tomorrow, YOU HAVE TO DELETE YOUR OWN POSTS, NO ONE IS GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU, end of story.

and ypou need to read all of thre posy above begfore making cmomment

and thats why I didn't want him manually deleting my posts, if thats the only Way I'll do it myself

Then I am afriad tomorrow will see me break as many of BLUA ruless as I can within the bounds of my level of reason a decency.

I'm not having TB do all that work paid or not.

That way you will have no choice but to grant my simple wish...why would you be prepared to ban a spammer and not a user, by request...it makes no sense

Again to quote the greenlighters guide:

"Our experience has shown that most of these requests come in the middle of some, possibly drug-induced, moment of paranoia. If you're worried about what you've posted here, take some time away from the computer. Maybe it will seem like less of a problem the next day."

It would really suck if we deleted 6 years worth of posts from you just because you were in a bad state of mind (I'm not saying that you are high). You would be really pissed a week later I am sure. If that is not the case with you, it is with most other people that request that we delete their posts, so we have this general rule.

^Could you mention one more time why my list of instructions doesn't work for you. Sorry if I missed it.

I don't need to mention it one more time since I didn't mention it the first time.

My request was for my account to be closed and preferably posts removed and your suggestion ( and its not a bad stab at a compromise --minus the sarcasm)
Isn't a bad one.

But why should I put up with this ropey compromise when we all know you could meet my request without to much trouble....dont treat me like I know nothing about IT here guys I've 25 years experience.

I'm going to leave this now as its just making me more upset and anxious which is the whole point of leaving.

Tomorrow I'll either go down the banning route or attempt some version of Amapola's suggestion. like;ly thr former since it gives me what I requested in the first place

Your right I have long term depression anxiety issues but I ain't high at the mo

So to summarize...

Your stated goal is to prevent yourself from ever logging into your account again and you have been offered a set of instruction for a way to do this yourself with a few simple steps.

The policy of not having staff ban you by request has been supported by a number of points and arguments, but you still think an exception should be made for you just because staff have the ability to click a button and ban you.

Rather than follow the easy procedure to lock yourself out of your account, you are planning on spending the rest of your life harassing the site and slowing accumulating longer and longer temporary bans.

Honestly atm23 I really don't see what you are trying to achieve here. I suppose it is some sort of protest against the way a small aspect of the site is run, however I thought you wanted to get away from the site and never see it again?

No exception to the rules is going to be made for you because one exception leads to another and soon there is no rule. People will be momentarily bored with Bluelight and want their thousands of posts and threads with pages of other users' contributions instantly deleted, or will be paranoid on a stim binge and want their account deleted only to want it back the next morning, or ask that all their posts be temporarily hidden just because the police busted their dealer.

I think this topic has been well covered and it is now time for you to make a decision on what you want to do so I am going to close this thread.

If you feel so inclined I wouldn't mind if you PMed me as I am actually quite interested in what you are trying to accomplish and why you are so fixated on this small quirk of the site. If you decide just to leave though that's fine as well as you have to do what you have to do. Maybe you can come back in a few years with a brand new handle and a brand new outlook :)

Best of luck!

Apologies for posting in a closed thread - it's poor form as the OP can't respond...but then, they appear not to want to be here anyway.

I just wish to point out that nobody is making the OP:
  • Purchase electricity and internet

  • Own a computer

  • Use those purchases to surf the net

  • Visit BL at all

  • Read upsetting content (which can be done with or without an account, logged in or not)

  • Have a poor reaction to what is on the site (though for many their emotions and reactions are not within their control...though recognizing the reaction it brings is a big step)

That's a wide range of steps to reach the point the OP is at, and somewhere along that line is a point of personal accountability. Towards the emotional end things may be out of one's control, but up to that last bit, all of these are the choices any member makes. Anyone can choose to register or not, to read the content (with or without registering). These are within your power to control. Banning the account does not effect your reaction to the content - your being here does, and that is in your control.

You have the power to not stand in the middle of oncoming traffic - a wise choice you make for your own safety. Likewise, you have the power to choose to not get on the internet; or if you do choose to surf the internet, you can choose to not visit this site or any others which cause you problems; or if you come here, to choose to avoid the forums that upset you; or if you intend on coming and reading those forums...you can, if you are registered, put people on IGNORE so you don't see their posts or PMs (this last option is not available to lurkers, or members who do not log in - they see all posts).

Ultimately, we all choose where to go - and in doing so expose ourselves to harm or opportunity. Knowing a place or situation is adverse or undesirable should influence that decision. But at the end of it all, it is the individual's choice.

I'm sorry to see you go, but understand and wish you the best.
