Hey I'm thinking about getting one of these next week, just looking for some feedback. Do you think its worth the price or should I just get a Xbox? There finally seems to be some good games coming out I just dont want to spend all that money then find out its shit.

seems to me the 360 has more better games and is cheaper unless you wan't a blu-ray player

Im in the same boat as you.....

I really want a PS3 but havent heard too much about it.....

I think that the PS3 will turn out to be a really good machine once the games start coming out for it.....Tech wise the PS3 ownz.....thats why its so expensive...It will be a while though for the video game company's to use the ps3 to its full capability....

Actually now i think of it a buddy of mine just got a PS3....Ill have a go on it and get back to ya

I'm getting one in a few weeks. I picked it because of the free network. It's more impressive spec wise. You just have to give it some time to catch up in the games market. Once they start learning how to use these machines to their full potential things are going to be mad for home console gaming.

And the Xbox 360 just pisses me off anyway.

Yeah, the ps3 is awesome. I broke down and bought one. I love it. It really is more than just a game system. To get the full use out of it, though, one needs a hdtv.

In a year or two when companies start developing games from the ground up with the PS3 in mind they'll blow away anything the XBox 360 has to offer. PS3 is a better investment.

Buy a Wii?

Meh..the PS3 is a good system and can put out some awfully nice graphics (if you have the high-end TV to properly display them), but they are suffering very hard right now. Even the current games on the PS3 aren't living up to the hype and what others were expecting. The PS3 doesn't really have any system sellers out right now and not any coming out soon either. With all of the 3rd party support moving away from Sony as well, they are not situated near as strong as they were in the days of the thriving PS2. Sony made a lot of poor mistakes over the last 5 years and they are truely paying for it now...

It's a good system, but don't hold your breath for a great library of games. Remember the Dreamcast? Incredible system, but it didn't sell...despite it having great games. Just a small library. Playstation isn't near as strong as it used too be...and that slowly becomes more and more apparent. *shrugs*

I'd still like to have one...someday...but not till I get a 360 and a high end TV. But the TV comes first...then the 360. Had the Wii since day 1 myself...best thing we waited 13+ hours in line for.

Plus, no games companies make games to the ps3's full potential (read: its not convenient using the extra code space the ps3 can potentially use) so really, the only games with marginal difference, will be PS3 headline titles, eg metal gear 4 (plus the ps3 only has what, 4 exclusive titles? :p http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p7pcq78sddbXfN0A-LjKWEA&gid=2)

In terms of ergonomics, online service, and uh..games, microsoft blows sony out of the water.

It sucks, i was a huge sony fanboy before they kept delaying the launch, removed chips from the European versions (yet still charged the worlds highest price...) yet they fucked up, there's no other way of putting it. They fucked up bad.

I <3 my xbox, never had any issues with it in over a year *touches wood*, the game selection is amazing (i'll choose this point to brag that GTAIV is coded on a 360) you can buy films/telly/OLD XBOX GAMES/arcade games (bomberman/worms, w00t!) and you can even have a little transparant msn window in the corner while you're watching movies!11

i wouldn't touch a ps3 for a few years yet. it may end up on top but it just as likely may bomb completely like the dreamcast, which, couldn't even be given away towards the end.

wii>xbox360>ps3

note to self: download worms and bomberman

I have a PS3, it's pretty legit. Not a surplus of great games out yet, but there are enough to keep you busy until some of the bigger releases. So far I have Resistance: Fall of Man, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. All three are killer games; if you're into online play, you can play for free. I recently downloaded the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo and I must say, that game looks very promising as well. While the 360 does have a year+ start, Sony is bridging the gap pretty quickly. Plus, with backwards compatibility, you could pick up some ps1/ps2 games for dirt cheap and have some fun.

Just for the purpose of reference, in my house we have all three next-gen systems (Wii, 360, PS3), and I think Wii is the best gaming experience out of the three (for now). Once games like Metal Gear 4 come out, I'll likely change my tune. The cool thing about the PS3 is it has a lot more to offer than just games. It has an internet browser, downloadable content (demos, full games, movie trailers, etc), supports various audio/video formats, wireless internet built in (xbox adapter is like $100+), and does a ton more shit that I haven't even gotten around to testing out. It can even run Linux operating system, if you're into to weird shit like that. Plus, on a relatively minor note, the controllers are all wireless and don't require batteries (charge via usb, which can be plugged into the PS3's usb ports to play while chargning).

At this point, I would say if you want a PS3, go for it. Make sure you look around for the best holiday deals, I'm sure you could snag one with some free games/controllers/movies/accessories if you look hard enough. I think they are still offering 5 free Blu-Ray discs at most places, along with whatever comes packed with it (Motorstorm/Spiderman 3/etc). Don't go for the 40gig version unelss you have no desire to play ps1/ps2 games, as it has no backwards compatability. In the end, it's your call. The 360 has more games out at this point, but that will change once the PS3 has been around long enough to build a strong game library.

Edit: Forgot to add, NES/SNES > All modern gaming consoles. :)
