So I was sitting here wondering if anybody on bluelight would still use OR have a plastic household bong.

However, even though I've thought about buying a proper bong, I've never gotten around to it, I'm still using a plastic bong and it doesn't bother me, though proper glassys do intend to create a smoother effect.
 
there's not really much difference apart from faster tar build up tbh, glass doesnt seem to gather it as quick.

glass pieces give smooth, unadulterated hits as the smoke cannot heat the glass the same way it does to the acrylic plastic (leeching out the plastic's tasty "flavour" :P )

i used to have a plastic bong until the cops stole it.
tbh IMO ive gone through waaaaay too many bongs & pipes.


my mum is a bit of a bitch in that she used to steal my glass bubblers etc (CUSTOM GLASS!) and throw them away.

Yeah I've gone through a shitstorm of bongs and pipes, I just haven't owned any of them :P
I've been using a plastic for 3 years and its the same one, its fucking filthy though :)
 
that was what my acrylic was like before the pigs made off with it.
a weird tar layer kept gathering at the bottom.
i prefer glass, but IMO plastic is good for stealth smoking at night when you need to be quiet with the bubbles.
 
Haha, yeah my plastic is fully black all around the inside and the water hasent been changed for a year lol.

Yes I am going to buy myself a nice glassy in a week or two, I feel sorry for the weed burning in such a disgusting thing.

i've kept bowl pieces and switched bottles on homemade waterfall bongs for at least 8 months. that's a good homemade bong b/c you can just replace the chamber whenever you want.

but, just out of curiosity, what kind of homemade system do you have rigged up?

for example i once made a bong out of a three liter, 2" and 1/4" PVC tubing, gorilla tape and a 3/16" crafstman socket. oh yea and some pipe clamps...

I keep the glass bong out for my fucking self and close friends who have $$$. If it gets broken, it damn well better be me breaking it or someone who can pay for it.

Everyone else uses the plastic bong and gets the snicklefritz.

My setup isn't as technical as that, I have had so many god damn plastic bongs in the past, The one I'm using now though, is a dual chamber, with a normal plastic bottle of water, & a small bottle connected to the side of the bong, smooth as fuck.

Yeah that sounds like a good system, i might adopt it and go and buy me a glass bong again. Last one was broken by a friend too poor(well, too greedy) to replace it. Ive bought like 3 glass pipes, all have been broken by 'friends' who dont replace them. Its just like.. you know, i dont have any problem holding onto a fucking pipe, you dont expect other people would either but hey, aparently its a huge fucking feet because no one seems to be able to do it. 8)

And the fact they were all 1 hitter 14$ pipes, made me not even ask, as i just couldnt be fucked going through the hassles of demanding 14$ for a new pipe when its just gonna cause tension cause the mates that broke them are relatively poor. Fucking sucks. :|

Sseeriously, I can't imagine it's healthy to have a year's worth of bacteria growing in water and then filtering your smoke through that, it would be a very good idea to change that water.
 
my mates have this plastic bong which the owner of the house like and they had it for 7 years, it was a powerade bottle with a hose for a stem and blue tac to seal it the water rarely got changed...

but at one stage we thought the cone piece was blocked but it was the stem it was completly filled with tar which we cleaned the lot out and it worked amazingly.

but now its bin replaced with a glassy with a pistol grip but it just go's straight into my lungs it doesn't pull into the chamber properly any idea why guys?

The stem is too big. Its letting in too much smoke to the chamber, which means it doesnt linger and build up, it just flows strait out of chamber into your lungs. Replace the stem with a narrower one.
