Legal rave pills drove my lad to suicide

TOM WELLS
and LUKE OLIVER

Published: Today
A LEGAL party drug drove a teenage boy to kill himself, his mum claimed last night.

Tragic Luke Cowan, 17, was found hanged after taking mind-bending Space-E pills at a music festival.

His body remained hidden for 11 weeks in dense woodland.

A Bible was nearby and a note read: "I saw an angel last night and now I'm with Jesus."

Legal ... Space-E packet

Space-E pills, a type of PLANT FOOD, cost £6.99.

One store advertises them saying: "Launch yourself into a night of rocket-powered psychedelia. Space-E will open your eyes to a new world."

It can contain mephedrone - which causes heart problems, loss of feeling in limbs, nausea and insomnia.

Pals said Luke took the drug at the Isle of Wight Festival in June. He vanished days later from his home on the island.

Last night his mum Michelle Knight, 42, of Newport, claimed the Space-E was to blame.

The mum of six said: "I definitely think it contributed towards his death. Luke was a wonderful son and loved by so many people.

"Yet as soon as he took this substance his mood altered. I'm convinced it caused hallucinations which meant he took his own life." An inquest was opened and adjourned after Luke's body was found last week.

Last night cops confirmed two men aged 49 and 32 were held in July in connection to alleged supply of "legal highs".

They were quizzed on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and bailed.

so this is the beggining of the end for mephedrone? one mass media parent agony bassed reaction and the walls will come crashing down...

yeah its the technical term that many sites have been using to describe why people are buying the product-mephedrone, its a hole loop cheeriO.

the reality is that this situation is likely to be the the end of the honeymoon. unscrupulous individuals selling doses (of what exactly) at festivals to uninformed youngsters is bad, plain and simple.

in the article it says "it can contain mephedrone", well i can climb mount everest-it doesn't mean i do. again a need to have facts...

Yeah... CAN contain meph.... I smell bullshit, but I'm too lazy to google these space-e whateverthefuck pills

I haven't heard of anyone going all Muhammad on meph n receiving messages from angels and shit though. First time for everything I suppose, but a tox report would be nice....... although after all that time... who knows wtf would be detectable.. =\ I'd imagine some type of psych was involved

But yeah lace, plant foods the word of the day lol

Suicidal grief, nothing to do with mephedrone. Nasty bit of WoD propaganda.

A body found hanging in woods is that of a grieving teenager who disappeared two weeks after the death of a beloved uncle.
Quote:
At the scene was a bible and an order of service from the funeral of Luke's uncle Samule Cowan, who died of pneumonia aged 44.

Yesterday Mrs Knight said: "I think Luke wanted to be with his uncle again. They were best friends and used to go walking together."

Police said: "The coroner has been informed. The death does not appear suspicious."

Thanks SHM, that sure sheds a lot more light on the situation =(

The sun... ptff... cunts

What a wicked piece of propaganda! Such a completely different story.

I want some mephedrone psychedelia. I must not have taken enough!

The only thing it will take to ban meph is for it to become popular. In a big enough crowd, some people will commit suicide, kill others, etc. If that crowd is the meph-using population, there will be news food. Stock up?

these stories dont even sound remotely similar, how fucked up are the newspapers

Sorry - I just can't take any report seriously that contains the phrase "mind-bending".

although this article was shit it highlighted one thing-that mephedrone is beggining to become a media pehnomenon and once get their teeth in it wont be long become illegal as gordon twat brown did with putting cannabis back up to class b. he also sold loads of englands gold when the price was the lowest and now its very high we have fuck all gold-not very good with money is he?

Live in the same place as this guy, hung out with a him a few times - he was doing everything all over the place. The article got it wrong aswell - Space E was sold in headshops on the isle of wight as powder, £15 a gram. It was meph, just sold with a name and as plant feeder becasue of the whole loophole thing. And it became VERY popular very quickly... the police were wating to pounce and his death, although sad, gave them the excuse. The fucked up thing is the guy who works in the shop got arrested and was charged with ABH, because he sold it, and two kids who got older people to buy it for them fucked themselves up on it. Its now banned from being sold on the isle of wight. I wish people who don't know what they're doing would leave stuff the fuck alone or get taught properly. RIP Luke

Wonder how much people kill themselves literally or commit suicide because of depfession that drink every day
