Well its weekend.And over here in in a small town in western cape south africa it means one thing-drinking..well people here in my community do it during week as well.young,old don't matter,beers,hard liquor just flows.Now to the point of this thread-why the hell do alcohol users get so much respect,they are accepted and welcomed all over liquor stores are everywhere yet the shit seems just as dangerous maybe more than some other substance.I've seen more domestic abuse,car wrecks and death because of alcohol than meth,weed etc..its fucked up,then people who drink tend to frown and be prejudice towards drug and medicine users!they just as fucked up chasing a drunken high!just coz ur fucking leaglly wasted doent make u better then the rest!alcohol is nasty and makes u fucking sick,hangovers are the worst,I had more fun with codeine and never sick but I was judged and labelled a script junky..sorry for the rant.I've never done hard drugs,but I feel the need to speak up because alcohol is a drug on its own.just coz u can legally obtain it doesn't make it better,more safe than say weed!yes I know I'm speaking an ancient tale,but just hate the prejudice and shame drinker put upon users.esp when their chasing the same thing.
 
The joke is truly on the people who are addicted to Alcohol, so I wouldn't worry too much about being judged. We're all familiar with the paradox, Alcohol being the most socially and legally acceptable drug, while also being one of the most dangerous to your health. If you tell someone that Heroin is healthier than Alcohol, they'll laugh in your face.

By the way, have you by chance ever done Mandrax (Methaqualone)? I hear it's pretty prevalent as a recreational drug in South Africa...
 
Alcoholics are not respected at all. I know many people that consinder alcoholics worst than heroin users. The thing is that the popularity of alcohol and the fact that its legal makes it more socially accepted.
Just remember that most of the billions of people on this planet use alcohol, but most aren't alcoholics. They will have some drinks at a party, have a nice time, and that's it, while almost all users of other drugs make their drugs a way of life.
That's why people(including me) won't consinder alcohol worst than any other drug.
