I take Pircaetam for MDMA recovery. It is an amazing substance - it increases bloodlfow between the two hemispheres of the brain and it makes neurotransmitters more available by altering cell membrane permeability.
Choline is a salt in the membranes, which is why it works so well together. Also, I find fish oil to improve it even more. The Omega-3 fatty acids improve the mylenation around nerve cells in the brain.
Piracetam saved me from the hell I experienced in the first month of recovery. It was like flipping a switch. I could 'feel' the serotonin flowing again!
Note: high doses of piracetam can cause real anxiety. This normally lasts for a few hours after taking it, and I would expect it to negatively impact a roll. It is AFTER the piracetam has peaked that its effect becomes amazing. Normally about 3 hours after I take it, my brain is moving exponentially faster. Indeed, on its own it has felt a lot like rolling to me - probably due to redistribution of serotonin to my starved receptors.
Just like BSiren, I recommend using an attack dose on the day of your roll, but at least three hours prior. Taking it too close to the roll will likely reduce the euphoria and shorten the experience.
However, if someone is having a bad reaction to MDMA, such as anxiety or serotonin syndrome - Piracetam would be your best friend. It should improve the brain's ability to fight the toxic metabolites. In high doses, piracetam has been shown to protect the brain against lack of oxygen. Of course, lowering the person's body temperature is the first priority...
I would also recommend taking more piracetam POST-roll. This may offer additional protection.
I do NOT recommend the 5-HTP - it has been linked to serotonin syndrome, a horrible and possibly lethal condition. If you have a healthy diet with lots of protein AND you are spacing out your rolls by at least 3 months, you should have PLENTY of serotonin!
