I've been using it the last few of days and have found no improvements at all. I've not noticed anything, in stark contrast to those who take it and experience subjective differences in cognition within 2 days.
I took an attack dose the first day and took 2400-3200mg/day to no avail, I think I'm going to shelve it to have as a preload for anything else I take.

It's worth noting that I am unlikely to have brain damage of any kind, especially from drugs.
Perhaps piracetam simply repairs damage done, or temporarily bridges it.
I'm not trying to bring anything back which I had before, and I haven't tried it with any psychoactive compounds, so perhaps this is what it's best for?
Have any other (very) light drug users tried it?

Idk if I'm considered a heavy drug user. I can go months sober then just splurge out of my mind on anything I can get my hands on. Lately though, I've been pretty clean. A joint once every couple of weeks. Nothing else
I got some piracetam because I've been feeling like I'm walking through a fog and being on autopilot at work everyday. Didn't do crap for my mentality but it actually does help with awkward heart beats. So that's all I take them for now.
As far as feeling any smarter or more focused... nothing. Makes me a little tired and my allergies seem to get worse on them so its nothing I really want to take unless I feel my heart tripping out.

I don't think it has anything to do with drug use levels. Piracetam as a nootropic is used by completely sober people and it isn't really supposed to be notably psychoactive. Cognitive effects can be extremely subtle as well and I'm not surprised you didn't notice them after one dose (although it seems you've read that a lot of people do?). Furthermore a lot of people end up trying several of the racetams before finding one they like. Of course as you mentioned it can also be used to potentiate psychedelic trips but that doesn't seem to be what you are looking for.

I think this might be better suited in HL and there might be a thread on piracetam/nootropics in there already.

edit: also as this is an old dead bumped thread I'll close it now and ask that questions be directed at Healthy Living or Psychedelic Drugs depending on the purpose.
