I have read that there have been numerous studies on nootropics but in regards for example to Piracetam the mechanism of action in the brain is still not known despite the fact that it was discovered nearly 40 years ago.
I have tried Piracetam pretty much on a daily basis for 3 months, the dosage ranged from 1200mg-3600mg and I found it quite helpful. The first week I didn't notice any cognitive difference, however after a while I started to realize some of its subtle effects such as increased concentration, faster thinking and I also noticed that it gave me a calming effect and my word fluency was strongly improved.

What are your personal experiences with nootropics and which nootropic in your opinion is the most effective?

I've tried several racetams - which is what I assume you are talking about because nootropics is a broad category including everything from piracetam to phenibut. I found phenylpiracetam to be the most drug-like as you could tell you were 'on something', so to speak. Picture amphetamine but without the euphoria or edginess - very functional, yet very expensive and tolerance builds fast. Another mention should go to aniracetam which is actually considered anxiolytic and I found that to be spot on yet it had no other use, cognitively speaking.

Unlike BL, reddit seems to have a very active nootropic community.
