As you aren't abusing it, no, you don't need to notify the DVLA. This PDF is a detailed overview of the whole policy. Its aimed at medical professionals, but any layman should be able to understand it https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...file/325275/healthcare-profs-drug-driving.pdf The DVLA just needs to know if it's a drug dependence or if it's methadone
This PDF covers drug driving and the "medical defence" https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...file/325275/healthcare-profs-drug-driving.pdf As you can see over 250mcg/L of blood is an offense IF you don't have a prescription. As you do, it shouldn't be an issue if you're pulled over UNLESS you really were driving dangerously, or had been up for 7 days and were hallucinating or some shit.
Brilliant cheers for that mate.
I got confused because on this page here it says you need to declare ADHD if it affects your ability to drive: https://www.gov.uk/adhd-and-driving
Strictly speaking, it does. If I'm not on my meds I can't concentrate fully. But medicated I'm absolutely fine, probably keeping more of an eye on the road than most.
Looking at UK ADHD forums I saw a lot of conflicting info there as well. Some threads saying you'll get in trouble later on if you don't tell the DVLA and get into an accident and the insurance will refuse to pay out. Others saying it only has to be declared if you literally cannot drive at all because of it.
I'll read the PDF. Since I'm sticking to my scripted dose and not doing anything stupid that'd make me see shadow people on the road I should be well within the law then. Might get my GP to write up a letter to keep in my car just in case confirming the script and the dose.
Main thing I'm honestly worried about with those drug tests is cannabis. They look for 5mcg/L of blood. I could get done for smoking a joint last week even if I'm 100% sober at the wheel. That's mental especially when the penalty is an automatic 12 month driving ban.
Utterly stupid law if you ask me. Like the PDF says it was already an offence to drive while impaired from using drugs. That's sensible, they should punish people for driving while impaired. The new law doesn't care if the drug makes you impaired or not and has a harsh penalty. Idiotic legislation.
