it happened again
but this time there was no drunk guy
this time it was a real photographer
from a quite well known website
what is it about us together
that compels strangers
to want to capture us on film
we gave each other that look
that knowing here-we-go-again look
i wrapped my arms around your waist
and you sort of folded over me
a rather awkward position
yet when he showed us the preview
we seemed to interlock perfectly
later on that night
on the dance floor
he asked me to dance closer
closer to you that is
he wanted to capture
dj and dancer
he liked my outfit
and said we "mesh well"
"our lines" will create perfect images
for the first time in a long time
my confidence faltered
on any other occasion
i would've walzted straight up to you
in all my not-so-humble glory
and performed some ridiculous stunt
just to catch your eye
then i wolud have proceeded to tear up the floor
spinning to your beats
flaunting the fact that it was i he chose
to freeze in time
frame by frame
with you
yet i did not move
i still don't know what came over me
fear
doubt
insecurity
and maybe too much pressure
so he told me to take my time
slowly work my way up there
he'll catch me by surprise
a silent observer
behind the stage
i agreed
beginning to feel like myself again
a smug smile crept onto my face
and with a familiar hip swish
i began to work my way through the crowd
slowly and deliberately
so lost in myself
it took me a minute to notice
that your set had ended
disappointed
and frustrated
i lost the moment
even though it still would be created
with someone else
someone else
not you
it lost the magic
yet for what it's worth
looks can be decieving
for there is no real magic here
only the magic created by strangers
with cameras....
