It looks fine but to be honest that's alot of water and alot of effort based on your description 
Since you're getting life brand, ask them for (AC&C) (aspirin and codiene).
The aspirin is much easier to filter out than apap and can be done at room temperature.
As for the method, I use between 30 and 60 ml of water (depending on the amount of pills used, works decently up to 50 possibly more but I've not tried yet)
I have a small bottle with a twist cap that has a tapered nozzle on it. I place a small folded single sheet of toilet paper (double ply) flat inside the nozzle and twist it on.
With the water and dissolved pills inside the bottle, I flip it upside down and GENTLY squeeze it into a small cup. Make sure you do it gently, the toilet paper provides a very fine filter but can tear easily if not careful, making you required to pour the goop back into your bottle.
