I hate getting old. You get more chronic problems than acute ones. Right now I'm dealing with urinary retention. Hopefully it's not my prostate. I'm already on Flomax, but it still takes up to 10 to 15 minutes just to take a piss. Do you have any advice for dealing with this ?

Being on Flomax indicates there is a doctor behind the scenes.
The only thing I have is revisiting this doctor and explain what is (or isn't) going on. There is not a lot to be said imo but someone here just may have a valid answer... idk.
Hoping the best for you cause I know how it feels to stand (or sit) all day just to urinate. But from opioid abuse in my case.

When I had stranguria, I got a sitz bath basin that sits on the toilet seat and filled it with hot water. As soon as I immersed my butt and my junk, the urine came pouring out. It was how I avoided needing a catheter. Heard about this tip from a nurse who helped pregnant women deal with urine retention.

Ever notice how when you're in hot water you have the urge to pee? It's basically that idea.

Not really convenient I guess for every single time you need to pee, but maybe for the times when it's acting up and particularly bad.

Or maybe you could use a lower tech version like a hot cloth on your abdomen above your bladder every time you need to go. There's something about sudden heat in the bladder region that makes the urine pressure go up.

If it's your prostate though that's going to be hormone related. Usually too much estrogen. Taking an aromatase inhibitor can help but only if it's the prostate and only if they have first ruled out infection.

Ugh... It's annoying me so much today I'll probably have to go to the E.R. later so they can put a catheter in again and drain it. I called my urologist earlier and he told me to go to the E.R., but in the meantime I have to wait for someone from the town to come inspect the pipes in the basement. I hate it when I have multiple things to do in a day.

Well I just came back from the E.R. and they put a catheter in me. They first drained my Bladder and then they hooked me up with one to wear home. It fucking sucks to have a tube stuck up my dick. Well.... at least I can pee now.

I knew someone who had one, did a urologist see what's wrong and are they going to fix the problem? Sorry to read about this, and I hope it can be fixed.

I'm going to see a Urologist on Friday. Hopefully he can figure out. At this point I'm willing to even have surgery to have the problem fixed. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
