Did you ever get the SB-900? I'm trying like hell to find a nice SB-800 for a reasonable price (without having to roll the dice and buy from ebay) but it's difficult because they're discontinued now.
I bought it and for some reason I thought the d40x would remote trigger it. That's what I get for making expensive purchases on psychedelics :D
It's very nice but I haven't the slightest what all the bells and whistles do. I'm also thinking about getting a new camera and lens. Maybe the next time I'm on psychs I will
Do only the d90 and d5000 do video? I'd quite like to have that feature but may just get a separate video camera. I hate carrying a ton of equipment with me wherever I go though!

As far as I know, only the D90 and D5000 do video. Unless you jump to Canon and I believe their 5D Mark II shoots HD vid, but it is mega expensive. To trigger the SB900 wirelessly, all you need is a cactus V4 trigger.

I have the V2 and have decent luck with it, rarely misfires. I see people on the strobist sites gushing over the V4 and it's reliable range.
Im trying to get ahold of an SB800 to use on camera, which in turn can trigger my SB600 on a light stand (or wherever I decide to put it). Or have both of them on light stands blasting down on a dance floor (think weddings) for cool lighting.

I haven't been on Bluielight for a long time now. But I have been busy with photographic penis extensions.
My last purchase was five months ago, but it will be my last until something breaks. It's not every day that you fork money for a second hand 600mm F/4 IS lens to complement an already ludicrous gear collection. It delivers some sweet pics.
My massive 300mm F/2.8 IS is totally dwarfed in comparison (as below).

I rented a 70-200 f2.8 VR over the weekend, absolutely amazing PRO quality lens in every sense of the word.
Also bought this sweet little gem today. 35mm f1.8
In my main rotation these days:
Tokina 11-16 f2.8
Tamron 17-50 f2.8
Nikon 35 f1.8
Nikon 50 f1.8
Nikon 85 f1.8
May be selling the Tamron soon, we'll see how bad I need the 35-50 range.

oh, thats interesting, do you still have it ? did you like it ?
ive being reading n thinking a lot about cameras and the canon s90, g11 and panasonic lx3, gf1 got the most of my attention
but i really want something pocketable
and the s90 is the only one almost as small as what i actually have, but sadly it doesnt have hd video
i think i would really like the wide angle lens (24mm) of the lx3
meanwhile im really hoping for a lx4 or anything similar that will come out in the next couple months
I never got the LX3. I got to thinking about it, and I rarely would use a point and shoot. It would essentially be a $500 toy. ![:\](https://bluelight.org/xf/BL_Images/Orig_Emoji/wrygrin.gif "wry grin :\")
Plus, it's only a 24-60mm zoom range which is very limiting. The S90 seems like a winner on paper, but Ive never even held one.
Gun to my head, if I had to get a compact camera, I'd probably still get the LX3 because it's Leica, baby.

I am looking to sell my Canon 50D. I have got some great shots out of it, but the sharpness and clarity of the images is just not up to my high standards. Has a great for that pseudo-reach, but the RAW format images are not read at all well by Photoshop and thus any processing workflow is dragged out through multiple programs.
I may be mad (and if you see my collection of gear that is ever increasing you'd agree) but I am looking at getting a Canon 1D Mark III once my credit card clears in a months time.

Hi everyone, Im after some information -
Im after a new camera - and Im looking at the new Canon EOS 7D (will be adding a 50x300 lens) but Im just wondering has anyone actually used one? Quite a few reviews about them saying it has a "few small problems" stoping making it a brilliant camera.
Its strange as the 40D got rave reviews and its quite a bit older so you would think the newer "improved" version would be even better?

I am studying to become a photojournalist at the Danish school of Journalism, but actually I don't really care much about gear. The less I need, the better.
I use my 35 mm. for maybe 70% of everything I am doing. The Last 30% will be my 50 mm., and sometimes a 85 mm. for portraits. That's how I work. I rarely use the flash.
I have:

50 f/1.2
85 f/1.8
A 580EX speedlite
And I LOVE photojournalism. I will soon start a project / photoessay about MDMA - I like telling stories, and I like telling stories about stuff that interests me.

Got a Nikon D40, a wireless remote, & the kit 18-55mm kit lens. I used to have the 10.5mm fisheye - which was pretty cool, but the novelty wore off quickly as I found out big scenic shots aren't really my thing. Picking up the 35mm 1.8 next week.
Might have to pick up the D90 or D3100 to replace the D40 as I think it's on the way out.
Got a Holga 120N & a Pentax K1000 too.
