I definitely wasn't takin' the piss, man. And for sure appreciate that you think so highly of my photos! Much love muh brotha!!!
As for the editing software question. When I first got my camera, I had this "I'll never use Photoshop" attitude... thinking that if I couldn't get a good picture without it, I'm just a shit photographer. I later checked it out for one reason or another and I LOVE it. I do use photoshop, but I usually use it for more subtle things like color saturation, brightness, and things like that. Photoshop is absolutely (in my opinion) a great tool so long as you don't ever rely TOO heavily on it. Sometimes I find it really adds to the vibe of the picture to do some color balancing. Like the top picture (the one that looks like my dog snapped a pic of himself), I did some color balancing and gave it a slight magenta haze... I feel like it kinda gives it a low-fi, vintage-ish, self shot, feel. So yeah... like I said... post editing software is a great tool, just don't rely TOO MUCH on it or else you'll get lazy with the camera.
Also, stay up on it, bruv! I go through periods of being lazy sometimes, but the way I improve the most with photography is taking SHIT LOADS of photos and adjusting the settings constantly to find ones that really work well. There'll be days when you take 1,000 photos and only get 15 that you really like, but I assure you that those 15 are probably gonna fuel you to get better!
