has anyone heard of the clients of a dealer being investegated as a result of the police having inspected the phone records of a busted dealer?

another unrelated question, do police ever pretend to sell drugs in hope of making an arrest?

Both questions relate to personal quantites of whatever the substance in question. Answers relevent to Australian law enforcment perfered.

related question: Has anybody heard of phone records being used as initial evidence ie: some kind of monitoring facility obviously running searches on text msg's > search warrants, as opposed to phone records being searched subsequent to an arrest?
 
It's all possible but cops won't give a shit if you're dealing l;ike an ounceof weed a day or something.. like really, they're using this technology to stop "terrorists" and big time dealers.
 
Put it this way, a friend had a very, very hard time explaining what he was getting 2500+ sms's a month. They didnt know what they said, but it all when into the evidence pile.
 
SWIM's friend was interviewed by police in which they asked him where SWIMs address was by asking to point on a Street Directory page. There it was, SWIMs mobile phone number on SWIMs street.

Now, how the fuck did they get SWIMs number?
 
They will investigate all the numbers and try to find bigger fish.

If the client unluckily appears to be a bigger fish...

once i bought 2 tinnies from a dealer i normally rang who sent out diffrent guys
these guys turned up in a truck, id neva seen them before but didnt question them cos u dont question guys working 4 the mongrel mob
turned out they werent mobbies they were police and that was me busted
b careful using mobile phones as well - cops track them, the phone company can listen in on any cobnversation u hav on the phone
my mates and i use codes over the phone now
 
it's also worth remembering that with the new nsw police powers to search, if you're pulled over by the police and they decide to search you or your car, it includes your mobile phone.

they'll look through the messages in your inbox and sent messages (inc photos) and if they find something suspicious/incriminating they can arrest you, even if they can't arrest you for any other reason. they need a warrant to get your phone records from the telco, but not if they're searching you or your car and they come across your mobile. make sure you delete your messages and photos.
 
^^^so tru!! b very careful, make a code 4 the name of ur drug and meet in kosher places - just avoid using ur mobile 4 scoring if u can
 
I don't think phone records on there own would be enough to prove anything. I think really the only danger there is letting them get information off you thats going to cause problems.

I also don't think police would pretend to sell drugs. Isn't that entrapment. I know they are allowed to pretend take the disguise of a prostitute or prostitiutes client and hope someone approachs them. But they can't go around making offers.

But then, I don't actually know any of this for certain and I'm just a random screenname on the internet.

its good idea to change codes often as you can... not the same codes all the time, the cops can pick up pretty quickly. ;)
 
Echelon system. Anyone heard of it ? The program, well for Australia is located in Geraldton, WA. It picks up voice and text from several telecommunication satelities and matches them to a database of known criminals or terrorists.

Yeah, that includes email and so forth.

This system is located all over the world. It scans EVERY MESSAGE.

I kind of laugh when people go on about using codes for drugs like instead of saying "yeah i'm after 5 pills" they say "yeah i need 5 CDs" or some other thinly veiled attempt. Do we really think police are so stupid to not be able to work it out? If you or your dealer is being monitored I'm pretty sure the mention of picking anything up, catching up, meeting up or whatever is going to arouse further suspicion. Its pretty simple and obvious that anything conducted over technology can be monitored. I'd say the only sure fire 100% safe way to conduct drug transactions is to not conduct them at all.

does anyone ever get like on your home phone when you ring someone, you hear something like a phone picking up or like a speaker turns on everytime you call, could this be cause you have broadband?
