I've recently been doing some resurch on phentermine and anphetamine related substunses...With Aspegers the prefrontal cortex, and amygdala which is the seat of the emotion nad the brain stem are effected...In genernal with Nurio Tipical's these 3 parts work in congenction to produce the normal social response in any given switation...In people with aspegers the brain stem is the first thing that is effected in a confuseing switation...The person with aspegers dosn't know how to respond and there for the prefrontal cortex responds in confushion causeing cayous in the brain...Generally in a person with aspegers, they "zone-out" (I did this alot when I was a kid)...this is a form of self preservation on the part of the individual with aspegers...In response the person who is an NT usually inturpertits this as anti-social, aloof, weard, being a jack ass, or a bitch...When in realitly this is a normal reaction for someone with AS...Those who are NT's fail to relize this and as such it causes emotions to fly, words to be said, and feelings to be hurt...doing more harm then good in the long run...That said, amphetamine's are sometimes abused in individuals with AS to highten the activity between the prefrontal cortex and the limbic system...This in a way is forceing the counrty road to become a super highway...the resulting effect is hightened dopamine release and greater awareness of what is going on around them...In a sense those with AS who abuse anphetamine's feel more sociable and upbeet...but in the comedown or "withdraw" it is distarious...Prolonged use of anphetamine's causes antidepressent-resistant amphetmine-indused depression...This would explan the exasterbated effects of depression that I experenese daily...Futhermore, in clinical studies done on rats who were given anphetamine's proceded to eat each other, and injur themselfs...That siad, this would explain my self injirous behavior...all of this is in an attempt to make myself more sociable and bubbly...but what is the price that I will pay in the long run of this most tempary effect...:(

on the other hand.. I prefer trying to find ways to be more sociable than go on living a shitty life.. :(

Anyway, I wonder if depression from amphetamine withdrawal would respond well to the combination of selegiline and phenylalanine, as phenethylamine (which levels would be increased as a result) is said to have an effect similar to amphetamines.

In my experience with Asperger's + drugs, the end result was the user looking really deeply into the side effects online and believing the drugs were the cause of their depression...

I don't have Asperger's, but it appears to me that either people with AS are extremley sensitive to the side effects of drugs, or that they read about the detrimental effects and kind of talk themselves into a hysteria that the drugs are THE cause of their depression.

Take that as it is.

Anyways, do you post with multiple login-names? I am confused why Hannah Capps started the thread then Blador gave a 'on the other hand' response...

As a kid, I found a dose of Psilocybe semilanceata, those lil' buggers, well, I would likely, I think, still be Kanner-type autistic if not for that experience.

I was diagnosed with aspergers long before I ever abused methamphetamine, 4 years of abuse later The psych's now think Im mentally healthy(no aspergers) But I think Its now ADHD from the amount of meth ive done.

^ What happened to the Asperger's? I'm really curious about this. Would you say you grew out of it? How did you get past the social 'disfunctioning' and like the really deep, narrow interests? Did you have different/other symptoms? Were your symptoms really severe?

See, I know this one guy who has Asperger's, and he's a really great guy, but other people can't seem to get to know that side of him. His social skills just totally throw people off. What was it about meth that changed you?
