Phenobarbital: the final word

I've heard very little on Phenobarbital and from what little ive heard its been said that its useless and its the weakest barbituate and that it sucks. But then I hear other people like it and prefer it to more than benzos. I want to know for those who have tried a decent amount of Phenobarbital how does it compare to your average benzo like klonopin; more euphoric less sleepiness what?
And what should be a correct dosage. Is it safe to take it everyday, I've heard withdrawl is deathly, so what would be an established amount of time you could take it for?

as to the effects, i have seen drowsiness and respiratory depression as common side effects
euphoria? are you looking at a medical referance book?
i can't imagine phenobarbital's effects would ever so inspire me as to use the word "euphoria" in its description...
