Phenibut Withdrawal

Hi,

This is my first post. I joined bluelight so I could post this.I started taking phenibut about a month and a week ago. I started at 2 grams a day and had worked my way up to 4-5 grams a day, taking around 6 grams on one occasion. 7 days ago, I dropped from 3.5-4 a day to 1.6 a day, and the withdrawal has been complete hell. I'm getting the worst panic attacks I've ever had (and I have a history of panic attacks). I just got a new job and I'm on 60 day probation right now, and I'm really concerned about losing this job because the withdrawal is so bad. It's causing me to make a lot of mistakes, and sometimes I feel so bad that I have to hide from the people I'm working with so they don't see the condition I'm in. My plan was to drop 500 mgs out of my dosage every 7 days, and I'm starting to regret taking the big leap from 3.5 grams to 1.6 grams. I guess my biggest concern is if it's safe for me to be taking kava and L-theanine at this time. I've read on other forums that these things help a lot with phenibut withdrawal, but I'm a little worried because I'm still taking the phenibut, and I don't want to potentiate the likelihood of something bad happening to me. Also, is this method of weaning off of phenibut safe?
Please reply as quick as possible. All help appreciated. Thanks.

Hey and welcome to Bluelight. I'm going to move this thread over to Other Drugs where you should be able to get more feedback. All the best. <3

i've never withdrawn from phenibut, however i did withdraw from a massive GBL habit, which was pure hell.
my recommendation would be to get some baclofen. it's also a GABAb agonist, although much more potent than phenibut. it has practically no recreational properties, and it's pretty easy to taper with it. baclofen will take away most if not all of the withdrawal symptoms. beware though, it can lead to physical dependence too, and the WD from that stuff is fuckawful too.
GHB/GBL will also help, however in my opinion they're too addictive in their own right, and it probably would be very easy to go from phenibut dependence to GHB dependence seamlessly.

i would not bother using ghb/gbl for phenibut withdrawal as the relief would be too short lasting..you are better off using baclofen or neurontin..neurontin will waie away 90% of phenibut withdrawals..

pregabalin and gabapentin will definitely ease the withdrawal, but they won't help like baclofen will help for example. if you combine both it'll be a walk in the park.

Just taper off gradually from the Phenibut. I was on it for four months at 3-4 grams a day. I dropped the dose by 250mg every week. Took a while to get off but it was painless because it was extremely gradual. What helped greatly was taking an anti-histamine before bed to help me sleep. You have only been on for a month so it may not seem like it, but you will have an easier time than I did. I would even play it safer and drop the dose by 200mg every week. The slower you taper, the more comfortable it will be.

Nasty stuff to get addicted to. People think because it's OTC here in the States it carries no risk. I was using it as a bodybuilding supplement because a friend recommended it to me and I took his word about it being safe and "non addictive". I will admit though, it put me to sleep right away and I had great sleep but it caused me to fucking snore. For some reason benzos, GHB, GBL, and such compounds cause me to snore.

Anyways, best of luck bro.

Switching to baclofen and tapering or tapering the phenibut are your best options. I would go with the former.
